Tracking Time on Tasks

Learn how to enable time tracking on tasks, log time entries, use the timer, and edit entries across your projects.

Updated over a week ago

When Time on Tasks is enabled, a Time tab appears on every task. You and your teammates can log time directly against a service in your budget without leaving the task.

πŸ“Œ You'll need access to both the project and its budget or a deal to track time on tasks.

Enabling Time Tracking on Tasks

The Time on tasks setting enables time tracking on tasks across all projects by default.

  • Navigate to Settings > Time Tracking.

  • Toggle on the Time on Tasks feature.

Logging a Time Entry

Once enabled, open any task and go to its Time tab.

  • Select a Service from the dropdown.

  • Set the Date and add a Note describing what you worked on.

  • Enter the time spent and click Save.

You can also link a task to a service directly from the task sidebar.

Choose from the services available in the budgets and deals connected to the project. When time is tracked via that task, the selected service is automatically prefilled.

Using the Timer

To track time as you work:

  • Go to the task's Time tab and select a Service.

  • Click Start Timer.

  • Click Stop when you're done to save the entry.

If you've already worked some time before starting (e.g. 2 hours), enter that amount first: the timer will start from that point and count up.

Tracking Time on Tasks Assigned to Others or Closed Tasks

You can log time on any task, regardless of whether it's assigned to you, someone else, or already closed.

The Time tab shows all entries for that task, including who tracked time and when. Multiple team members can log time on the same task.

Editing a Time Entry

If you need to edit a time entry:

  • Open the three-dot menu next to the entry and select Edit.

  • Modify the necessary details and save the changes.
