What are the payment fees?
Invoices paid through the Stripe facilitated online checkout will attract a transaction fee.
β
The fee includes a 0.75% Programa Application Fee to facilitate the payment. It also includes Stripe's processing fee. Please refer to Stripe's pricing page for more info, as it applies to your region and currency for the account you onboarded with.
A 0.4% invoicing fee will also be issued by Stripe after an invoice has been paid successfully (or 0.5% for customers on Stripe's Invoicing Plus plan). More info here.
Can I pass on transaction fees to clients?
Yes, transaction fees (Payment Fees) can be passed on to clients at the point of issuing an invoice. Simply switch on the 'Pass-on transaction fee to client?' toggle and fill in the relevant fields.
The transaction fee will appear as a single line item on the invoice issued to your client.
Do I get charged for failed payments?
No, Programa and Stripe do not charge fees for failed payments.
How long do payouts take?
Payout speed varies per country, but your Stripe balance is typically available for payout between 2 to 7 business days.
Do I have to have a Stripe account in order to create an invoice?
Our invoicing system is built on top of Stripe's payment infrastructure, you will therefore need an approved Stripe account in order to use our tool.
How do I apply decimal quantities to an invoice?
Stripe's payment infrastructure supports line item quantities in whole numbers only. Find out how to configure your invoices in Programa using decimal quantities here.
Bank transfers/ACH/ wire transfers are being sent to a Wells Fargo account - what is this?
When allowing customers to pay invoices with ACH Credit Transfer, Stripe automatically generates a virtual bank account number that can be paid with ACH credit or USD wires. This virtual bank account is issued by Wells Fargo, which then transfers into your own account associated with Stripe. Here's an article that describes this in more detail: Unknown Wells Fargo account shown on invoices sent to customers.
My Bank Transfer/ACH payment hasn't cleared
If you've previously requested a bank transfer payment from a client, and subsequent payments haven't cleared - it may be that your client has paid using a payment link associated with a previous invoice.
When choosing the Bank Transfer method, each customer gets assigned a "virtual" bank account in Stripe, per invoice. Each new invoice needs to be paid into this specific account using the new link provided.
If, by mistake, your client has used a previous payment link - you can still recover the funds they've sent through, as these will be available in your account - just not yet cleared. Simply follow the steps below to release the funds into your account:
Log into your Stripe account, and head to https://dashboard.stripe.com/uncharged_sources
Find the customer associated with the payment you're looking to retrieve, and open their customer profile
In the top right-hand corner of the page, you'll see the option to either 'Charge customer' or 'Create invoice'
If 'Charge customer' shows:
Click this button
Select the option to use your ACH balance
If 'Create invoice' shows instead:
Click this button to create a new invoice
Under 'Payment collection' choose 'Charge immediately'
Select the option to use your ACH balance
The funds that were previously held will now be released into your account
Help, I'm unable to connect to Stripe!
If you're reading this, you probably received an error that states your Stripe account is unable to be retrieved.
Stripe enforces a single platform connection policy, meaning only one platform can be connected to an account at any one time. We'd recommend heading into your Stripe settings, and disconnecting other external platforms, before retrying your Programa connection. Here's a guide we found in Stripe's documentation on how to do this: Disconnect your Stripe account from a connected third-party platform
If you'd like to connect to Programa while already linked to another platform, you'll need to create a new Stripe account under the same Stripe user login. You can find more info around this here.
