Default templates included with your account

When you create your Programa account, you'll find two ready-to-use template projects on your dashboard:

1. Decor & Styling Template

This template is designed for decor and styling projects. It includes pre-configured tasks and design phases tailored for styling work, a furniture and decor schedule, a complete set of project schedules, and a placeholder pinboard with sample layouts.

2. Interior Design & Architecture Template

This template is built for comprehensive design projects spanning multiple stages. It includes tasks and design phases for full-service interior design and architecture work, a complete set of project schedules, and a placeholder pinboard with sample layouts.

Note: If you don't see these templates on your Projects dashboard, contact our support team via live chat to have them added to your account.

Reviewing and customizing templates

Before using a template, review and customize the content to match your project needs:

  1. Open the Project Management tab and review the tasks, phases, and schedules

  2. Examine the template schedules and pinboards

  3. Rename files by clicking directly on the Schedule name, enter your new title in the field provided and hit Enter.

Duplicating a template project

To create a new project from a template:

  1. Navigate to the template project card on your dashboard

  2. Click the three dots in the bottom right corner and select Duplicate Project

  3. Wait for the duplication to complete (this may take a few minutes depending on project size)

  4. A new project named "Template Project Copy" will appear on your dashboard

  5. Click the cog icon in the top right corner of the card to open project settings and rename it

Creating your own custom template

Every studio has unique workflows, so you may want to create a custom template that fits your specific needs.

Setting up your custom template

  1. Create a new project and name it "[Your Studio Name] Template Project"

  2. Your new project will include a default Project Management tab, Schedule, and Pinboard

Customizing the Project Management tab

  1. Set up design phases that represent your typical project workflow (such as Concept Design, Schematic Design, Design Development, Construction Documentation, and Installation)

  2. Add tasks for activities you typically perform during each design stage

  3. Include subtasks to break down larger activities into manageable steps (for example, within "Concept Presentation Preparation" add subtasks like "Compile Mood Board," "Prepare Concept Sketches," and "Review with Senior Designer")

Learn more in our guide on how to set up project phases and how to add tasks.

Customizing schedules and pinboards

For schedules:

  1. Open the Untitled Schedule and rename it according to your needs

  2. Create section headings that align with your typical projects

  3. Add placeholder products or materials you frequently specify

  4. Create multiple schedule templates for different types (Materials & Finishes, Fittings & Fixtures, Lighting)

For pinboards:

  1. Open the Untitled Pinboard and rename it

  2. Add your studio logo

  3. Create section headings to help you quickly populate pinboards for new projects

Tip: The more detailed your template, the less time you'll spend setting up future projects. Add as many tasks, phases, schedules, or pinboards as needed to fully reflect your studio's workflow.

Frequently asked questions

What is a Template Project?

A Template Project is a pre-set project framework that includes your standard project management tasks, schedules, and pinboards. It saves time by letting you duplicate and customize it for each new project.

How should I set up my Template Project Management tab?

Set up the design phases you typically follow (like Concept Design, Schematic Design, Design Development, and Construction Documentation). Add tasks or deliverables for each phase that align with your project workflow.

What should a Template Schedule include?

Include section headings and placeholder products typical for your projects. You can create multiple schedule templates within the same project for different categories like Materials & Finishes, Fittings & Fixtures, and Lighting.
