Reviewing & Customising Templates

We recommend reviewing all template content and customising it to suit your specific project needs. Start by examining the tasks, phases, and schedules in the Project Management tab. Then go into examining your template schedules and Pinboards.

You can easily rename files by clicking the three dots in the top right corner of the page, selecting "Rename," typing your new title, and pressing "Save."

Duplicating Your Template Project

To copy your template data into a new project:

  1. Navigate to the Template Project card in your dashboard.

  2. Click the three dots in the top right corner of the card and select "Duplicate Project."

  3. A new project named "Template Project Copy" will be added to your dashboard.

Please note that the duplication process may take a few minutes, depending on the size of your project.

To rename the duplicated project, click the cog icon in the top right corner of the card to access project settings, where you can edit all relevant information fields.

Creating a Custom Template Project

Every studio has its own unique workflow, so you might want to create a custom Template Project that fits your specific needs. Here’s how:

  1. Create a New Project:

    • Start by creating a new project in your dashboard and name it “[Studio Name] Template Project.” This will serve as the foundation for your custom template.

  2. Default Structure:

    • The newly created project will include a default Project Management Tab, Schedule, and Pinboard.

  3. Customising the Project Management Tab:

    • The Project Management tab is where you organise all your tasks and phases. Start by setting up the design phases that represent the key stages of your typical project workflow. For example, phases like Concept Design, Schematic Design, Design Development, Construction Documentation, and Installation might be relevant. Follow this guide to set up a phase.

    • Add tasks that correspond to the specific activities you typically perform during each design stage and assign them to a templated Phase. Consider including subtasks within your main tasks to break down larger activities into manageable steps. For example, within a task like Concept Presentation Preparation, subtasks might include Compile Mood Board, Prepare Concept Sketches, and Review with Senior Designer. Follow this guide for more detailed steps on adding tasks.

  4. Customising Schedules and Pinboards:

    • Open the Untitled Schedule and rename it according to your project needs. Organise the schedule by creating section headings that align with your project’s requirements, and add placeholder products or materials that you frequently specify.

    • Open the Untitled Pinboard and rename it to suit your branding. Add your logo and create section headings that will help you quickly and efficiently populate the pinboard when starting a new project.

  5. Expanding Your Template:

    • You can add as many tasks, phases, schedules, or pinboards as needed to make the template fully reflective of your studio’s workflow. The more detailed your template, the less time you’ll spend setting up future projects.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a Template Project?

A Template Project is a pre-set project framework that includes standard project management tasks, schedules, and pinboards you routinely create. It’s designed to save time by allowing you to duplicate and customise it for each new project.

How should I set up my Template Project Management Tab?

We recommend setting up the design phases you typically follow in your projects. Add tasks or deliverables for each phase. For example, create phases like Concept Design, Schematic Design, Design Development, and Construction Documentation. Assign tasks to each phase, ensuring they align with your project workflow.

What should a Template Schedule include?

Your template schedules should have section headings and placeholder products that are typical for your projects. You can also create multiple templates for different types of schedules within the same project, such as Materials & Finishes, Fittings & Fixtures, and Lighting.

What should a Template Pinboard include?

Set up your Pinboard with section headings so that you can quickly add images when starting a new project with the template. Include branding elements like your logo to maintain consistency across presentations.

What if I can't find templates in my dashboard?

If you don't see templates in your Projects dashboard, your account may need an update. Contact our support team on the live chat below to have these added to your account.
