Why is there a “Tap to copy the URL for this app” notification in my Android notification tray?

If you’ve noticed a notification saying “Tap to copy the URL for this app” while using a PWA (built with Progressier or any other solution) on your Android device, it’s actually there for convenience—and it only appears on certain phones.

This notification shows up when your Android device doesn’t allow you to copy the page URL from the “recent apps” or app switcher screen (the screen you access by swiping up from the bottom of the home screen).

Some phones, like Samsung devices, don’t provide a built-in way to copy a PWA’s URL from this screen. The notification gives you a quick way to copy the URL without navigating back to the browser or the app’s menu.

On devices like Google Pixel phones, this notification usually doesn’t appear, because the OS already allows users to copy the URL directly from the recent apps view.

In short, the notification is simply Android’s way of making it easier to share or save the URL of a PWA when the system’s UI doesn’t provide a native shortcut.
