Default Naming Behavior

By default, when you create a new manual project in your ProLine account, the system automatically generates a project name using the main contact’s first and last name. This is the initial behavior out of the box and applies as soon as you input the primary contact information for the project.

Example:

  • If the main contact is “John Smith,” then the default project name will automatically populate as “John Smith.”

Using the Address as the Default Name

ProLine also offers an alternative naming option: using the project address as the default project name.

To trigger this:

  1. Look for the setting labeled “Use address as default project name when possible.”

  2. Check this option.

When selected, the system will attempt to use the project’s address as the default name whenever feasible, replacing the contact name in the naming logic.

Customizing the Project Name

Even though ProLine auto-generates a project name using either the contact’s name or the address:

  • You are not restricted to using this auto-filled name.

  • As you continue building the project — by adding details, assigning categories, specifying project types, or selecting services — you can rename the project at any time.

  • Customizing a project name outside of the two default modes is a manual process within each individual project.

Recommendation

Consider your team’s workflow when deciding which default naming approach to use.

If you often reference projects by address, enabling the “use address” option may streamline your processes. On the other hand, if contact-based organization works better for your team, sticking with the default contact name setting is appropriate.
