How your ProLine number receives inbound calls depends on which forwarding mode you’re using. Here’s how they work…

In Classic Mode, you’ll be prompted to "press 1 to answer" to pick up incoming forwarded calls from ProLine. The contact's name (if saved in ProLine) will be read aloud when you answer the call. This is the recommended mode for most ProLine users, especially outside sales reps.

In Direct Mode, calls will be forwarded directly, and the caller's actual number will be shown as the incoming caller ID. Be sure that if you miss the call, you still place your return call from the ProLine app. That way, they’ll receive your return call from the same number they called earlier as opposed to your regular number.

In Hybrid Mode, inbound calls come from your ProLine number like in Classic mode, but you won't have to "Press 1 to Answer". Simply answer the call, and have a conversation like you normally would.

In Browser Mode, calls will ring to the ProLine desktop browser app. Caller ID will be shown on the incoming call screen, and a ringtone will be heard.

Regardless of forwarding mode, calls will appear in your ProLine call log. You’ll be prompted to create a note. Use this to jot down details to remember later. You’ll also receive a recording of the call (if recording is enabled) and a log of the call duration.

Voicemail

Like with calls, how your ProLine number stores voicemails depends on which forwarding mode you’ve selected.

In Direct Mode, voicemails are saved in your phone's regular voicemail inbox, and your regular phone's voicemail greeting will play for missed calls.

In Hybrid Mode, voicemails are saved in your phone's regular voicemail inbox, and your regular phone's voicemail greeting will play for missed calls.

In Classic Mode, voicemails are saved in the ProLine voicemail system and are accessible in the call log and the contact's activity feed. Your ProLine number also has its own voicemail greeting that can be set in your account settings.
