Text Message Conversations

You can hold full 2-way text message conversations with your contacts in ProLine just like you would through your phone’s regular text message app. The difference is that when you text through ProLine, your ProLine phone number is used for the text messages, which is the same phone number used for automated text messages from ProLine.

We recommend exclusively using ProLine for your sales text messaging with contacts to avoid confusion arising from having different numbers for automated and manual text messaging. ProLine manual 2-way texting functionality makes this easy and intuitive.

There are many ways to access a text message conversation with a contact in ProLine. Here are the most commonly used approaches…

Also, you should check this out before you text

Starting a new conversation

On the mobile app, select the plus icon in the bottom right corner and then select “Message”. This will open a new conversation.

Type your contact’s name or their phone number into the Send message to… box. Remember, a number doesn’t have to be in your contacts to start a conversation.

From there, sending a text works exactly like it does on your phone—just type in your message and hit the send icon. You can also attach pictures from your device.

Once you’ve sent your text, you can select the number and choose the Add Contact icon to add them to your contacts. Hit Save when you’ve entered their information.

From The Messages Page

Like before, select the message bubble icon in the tool bar along the bottom of your mobile app. For the desktop app, it’s on the left side. This will open your messages page, which shows a list of your current text message conversations. You’ll see conversations with the most recent and/or unread text messages at the top and conversations with older text messages at the bottom, just like in your regular phone’s messages app.

Whenever you manually send or receive a text, the corresponding conversation is floated to the top of the messages page. Note that automated texts sent by ProLine do not move conversations up on the messages page. This keeps your message page behaving as close to how your regular phone’s messages behave as possible, making it more intuitive to use.

To continue a conversation, simply select it. This will open the full conversation with the contact. Automated messages will appear in blue, while manually sent messages will appear in green. Then, send texts in the conversation using the input field at the bottom of the conversation.

You can also archive conversations from the messages page. Click and drag the conversation you want to archive to the left. Select the yellow icon that appears to archive the conversation.

You will still be able to access the contact’s conversation from elsewhere in the app and any texts to or from the contact will unarchive the conversation.

From The Contact Card Menu

When you first open the ProLine App, you’ll see a list of your contacts in your folder. Select your contact to open a menu for interacting with it. Choose message [Contact Name]. This will open the conversation.

Contact cards are also displayed in search results when searching for contacts and a modified contact card is used for call history on the Calls page.

Other Ways to Access Conversations

You’ll see the message icon in various places throughout the ProLine app. Tapping on any of these icons will open your conversation for the associated contact.
