ProLine's powerful automation engine includes many actions that can be used without limits due to their relatively inexpensive cost per action. However, other automated actions (like automated text messages) are extremely expensive per action. To ensure our costs are covered and prevent abuse, we use PRO credits to track and bill for excessive monthly usage of these automations.

What ProLine automations use PRO Credits?

The automated text message step in ProLine campaigns is the only ProLine automation that requires PRO Credits at this time. Regular text messaging (including the sending of quotes, orders, and invoices) is unlimited, but SMS sent via campaign automation steps use PRO Credits.

Automated text messages through ProLine use one PRO Credit + one PRO Credit per 160 characters or media attachment.

ProLine pays for SMS for our customers by the "segment." An SMS "segment" is 160 characters or one media item. PRO Credit usage matches this, so an automated text message with fewer than 160 characters uses one PRO Credit to send. However, a text message with more than 160 characters will require two or more PRO Credits depending on the total number of 160-character "segments." If you attach an image to a message, it is sent as its own segment and requires its own PRO Credit.

Example: A 190-character text message with an image attachment consists of 3 segments and will use 3 PRO Credits.

How many PRO Credits do I get, and how often?

Every ProLine plan has an allotment of PRO Credits each month. You can see that exact allotment and track usage on the Plan & Billing page inside ProLine.

How do I track my PRO Credit usage?

Your PRO Credit usage is tracked and displayed on the Plan & Billing page inside ProLine.

What happens if I go over my included PRO Credit allotment?

You will be billed an overage fee for each additional PRO Credit you use that goes over the allotment. The total cost of these overages will be added to your next ProLine subscription renewal. Your overage fee amount is displayed on the Plan & Billing page inside ProLine.

PRO Credit overages are rare since most ProLine plans have extremely high monthly PRO Credit allotments set much higher than most users need. This is intentional, as we don't want ProLine users to be stressed about their usage. PRO Credits are intended to prevent abuse of ProLine's automations, not restrict expected usage of the platform.

If I use less than my allotment in a month, does the unused balance roll over?

No, your PRO Credit usage will reset to zero when your subscription renews. PRO Credits exist to prevent abuse and excessive usage. They don't directly represent any cash value and are not a resource that can be stockpiled or collected.
