Why Carrier Trust Product Registration Is Important

As of May 2023, Phone carriers have cracked down heavily on text messaging and calling in an attempt to eliminate as much text message and call spam as possible. Under the new standards, all digital (A2P/Application to Person) phone numbers are considered guilty until proven innocent and must complete the above trust product registrations or face severe call and text message restrictions, blocking, and additional fees.

Here at ProLine, we've done our best to streamline this process for you by combining the below registrations into a single streamlined registration form. We are committed to making sure every company that uses ProLine can get their Carrier Trust Products fully approved, so don't hesitate to reach out to our support if you need help.

Included in ProLine's Phone Carrier Registration:

  • Brand Profile Registration

Register your company's full legal details and EIN or CCN number with phone carriers so they can assign your company as the official user of your phone numbers. Phone carriers want to know exactly who is using a number if they are going to allow a number to contact other phone numbers on their network.

  • A2P Brand Profile Registration

A2P stands for "Application to Person." All digital phone numbers are considered "application" numbers, while phone numbers assigned to physical devices are considered "person" numbers. A2P Brand Profile Registration is secondary company brand registration specifically for "Application to Person" text messaging. It uses the same basic information as the Brand Profile Registration.

  • CNAM Registration

CNAM is short for "Caller Name" and is the official name for branded caller ID. Once your chosen branded caller ID is registered, it will appear by default on most phones when calling a phone that doesn't have your phone number saved as a contact yet.

  • SHAKEN/STIR Attestation

A proper SHAKEN/STIR registration will usually remove the "spam likely" label that some numbers are flagged with. Numbers can still be flagged as spam if previously used for a spammy purpose, but in most cases, "nuisance labels" like "spam likely" are just a result of a lack of SHAKEN/STIR registered attestation.

  • Voice Integrity Registration

Another reputation-focused registration to avoid the "spam likely" label that some numbers are flagged with.

  • A2P 10 DLC Messaging Campaign Registration

Your 10 DLC Messaging Campaign is a registration with phone carriers to declare exactly how your company uses the text messaging functionality of your phone numbers and how contacts opt-in and opt-out of receiving text messages from you. This is the most challenging trust product to get approved, but your text messages to most phones will be blocked if you don't have it, so it is unavoidable.

Starting the Registration

For newcomers to Proline, initiate the registration by selecting Account Setup in the top right corner and starting the Complete Phone Carrier Registration task.

Existing users who haven't completed this step can find it under hamburger menu > Company Settings > Phone.

Business Information

  1. In the first text box, enter your company's legal name exactly as it appears on your official documents like articles of organization or articles of incorporation. Using a DBA (Doing Business As) name can lead to registration failure.

  2. Next, enter your business’s website URL. Your business site must be live to pass the approval process.

  3. Next, choose your business type. Generally, the business type will be 'Limited Liability Corporation' or 'Corporation.'

  4. If you’re a roofer, choose 'Construction' as your industry. If not, choose the industry that best describes your business.

  5. For registration ID, provide your Employer Identification Number (EIN) for the US or Business Number (BN) for Canada, ensuring it is exactly nine digits.

  6. Finally, add your business email. If possible, use an info@yourdomainname.com email format. It’s best practice to avoid gmail or yahoo emails.

Open the Physical Address drop down.

Address

  1. Your company must have an easy-to-verify physical presence at the address you provide.

  2. The physical address listed should match the one on your website and Google My Business. Don’t use a PO box unless it’s verified by Google My Business.

  3. If you don’t have a physical office, use the same address on your articles of organization or incorporation.

  4. Otherwise, go ahead and fill in all the required information.

Open the next dropdown.

Company Representative

  1. Fill in the information of a contact within your company who can respond to inquiries from phone carriers. This might be the person filling out the form or another employee like an office manager or general manager.

  2. Be sure that the person can be contacted by the phone number and email you provide.

Fill in all the requested information and open the next dropdown.

Branded Caller ID

With ProLine, you get to choose how your company shows up on caller ID. The ID you choose must meet the following criteria…

  • Limited to 15 characters.

  • Must be clearly associated with your company.

  • Must reflect your company’s online presence and name on website

  • Abbreviations (when used) must still be clearly associated with your company.

For example, if your company's name is North River Roofing Company, you can't use the full name since it’s too long (more than 15 characters). You can't use Roofing or Roofing Co because they’re too generic. And you can't use NR Roofing because it’s not unique to your company (NR could stand for anything).

In this case, we’d recommended caller ID options like North River or N River Roofing.

Choose your Caller ID and open the next dropdown.

Website Compliance

To complete your phone carrier registration, you must have text message disclaimers on contact forms and a privacy policy on your website.

If you’ve got those covered, choose the We Have Already Installed bubble and check the READ CAREFULLY box that appears.

If not, you can either…

A. Add the disclaimers and privacy policy yourself or with the help of professionals. You can download our detailed guide and example Privacy Policy to get you started. Click the blue "Download Detailed Guide & Example Privacy Policy" button to get a custom-generated text and guide for your business.

OR

B. Choose the Install For Us ($150) bubble and enter your login credentials. Our team will add disclaimers and policies for you! You can use the email trust@proline.app if you’d like to create an account specifically for our use. We’ll charge $150 to your on file payment method once we’re done.

The blue "Download Detailed Guide & Example Privacy Policy" button looks like this:

Submit Registration

After entering all the required information correctly, green check marks will indicate the completion of each section. Press Submit at the bottom of the form to initiate the review process.

Review Process

We’ll review your registration. Once we approve it, we’ll pass it on to carriers. We’ll also allow you to choose a phone number for your ProLine account.

It takes about two weeks to hear back from carriers. You’ll see a notification in ProLine that you’ve been approved or detailed feedback. Once you update your information, you can resubmit it for approval.

Troubleshooting and Support

If you run into any problems or have questions about the registration process, Proline’s support chat is available to provide immediate assistance.
