What Are Lead Sources?
Lead Sources in ProLine help you track where your contacts (especially customers) are coming from. This is essential for understanding your marketing ROI, refining your outreach strategies, and accurately reporting across various business dashboards. For example:
A contact who found your business through a Google Ad should be tagged with "Google Ads" as their lead source.
A homeowner referred by a real estate agent can be tagged with "Referral" or "Agent Referral."
By tagging lead sources accurately, you gain deeper insights into the performance of your marketing and referral efforts.
Accessing Lead Sources
Click the hamburger menu (☰) in the top left corner of your screen.
Scroll down and select Company Settings.
Navigate to the Contacts tab.
Scroll to the Lead Sources section.
Managing Lead Sources
When you open the Lead Sources section, you'll see a list of default lead sources preloaded by ProLine. You can:
Delete any lead source that doesn’t apply to your business by clicking the trash can icon.
Add new lead sources by clicking Add Lead Source, then entering the name of the source (e.g., Home Show, Yard Sign, Facebook Campaign).
Referral Checkbox Option
For each lead source, you can choose to enable a Referral checkbox.
This is especially useful for sources like Referral, Agent Referral, or any situation where the contact came directly from another person in your ProLine account.
Enabling this allows you to assign a referring contact when creating or editing a new contact.
ProLine recommends limiting this to only one or two lead sources that function as actual referrals to avoid confusion during data entry.
Why Lead Sources Matter
Lead sources directly impact reporting within your ProLine account. They are used in:
Marketing Dashboard: Tracks cost per lead, revenue per lead source, and contract values.
Sales Dashboard: Helps analyze close rates and performance by source.
Production Dashboard: Identifies trends related to project types and job fulfillment.
Profitability Dashboard: Shows the profitability per project.
Map Dashboard: Visualizes where leads are originating geographically.
Keeping your lead source list accurate and up to date is critical to ensure meaningful, reliable insights across all reporting areas.
Best Practices
Regularly review and update your list of lead sources to match your current marketing efforts.
Remove outdated or unused sources to keep your list streamlined.
