Accessing Custom Fields for Contacts
To get started:
Click the hamburger menu in the top-left corner of your ProLine dashboard.
Scroll down and select Company Settings.
Within the Contacts tab, you'll find the Custom Fields section at the very top.
Types of Custom Fields
There are two types of custom fields available:
Text Fields: Use these to store custom labels or notes, such as the contractor’s or installer’s name.
Date Fields: These are designed to track key dates like a production start or end date.
Each field type includes three blank spots, allowing you to define and label them based on your specific needs.
These fields are especially useful when you want to track information that isn’t tied to an event or doesn’t naturally fit elsewhere in the contact or project record.
Using Custom Fields When Adding a Contact
To use your newly created custom fields:
Click the plus (+) button on the left-hand side of your dashboard.
Select Contact to open the new contact form.
Scroll down slightly, and you’ll see your custom fields displayed with the labels you assigned in settings.
For text fields, type the relevant information directly into the field, for example, the name of a contractor or installer.
For date fields, click into the field to open a calendar picker. Select the appropriate start and end dates, and optionally choose a time as well.
This is especially helpful for same-day projects that span different timeframes.
Final Notes
Custom fields give you added flexibility to store and track information that doesn’t otherwise have a place within the default contact structure. Whether you're using them to record contractor details, schedule milestones, or note internal references, they help keep your contact records more complete and organized.
Once configured, these fields will appear on every contact profile, making them easy to update and reference across your team.
