  3. Navigate to the Contacts tab.

  4. Scroll about halfway down the page to find the Contact Types section.

Understanding Default Contact Types

In Proline, a Contact Type is a label used to help organize and differentiate the various people or businesses you interact with on a project. These types give your contacts structure and make it easier to filter, sort, and manage them across your account. ProLine comes preloaded with seven default contact types.

You’ll notice that Customer is:

  • Set as the default contact type

  • Required to have a lead source

This is intentional and highly recommended, as lead source plays a crucial role in key reporting dashboards, such as:

  • Marketing reports

  • Sales performance dashboards

Customizing Contact Types

ProLine comes preloaded with seven default contact types, but you can customize contact types to fit your organization’s needs:

  • Remove any default types that don’t apply to your business

(ex: if you don’t work with real estate agents)

  • Add new contact types that are relevant to your workflows

(ex: HOA Managers, Insurance Reps, Property Managers)

    • To add a new type, click the “Add Type” button.

    • A pop up will open for you to name that contact type.

    • Then click “Create”

Please note that there is no limit to the amount of types you have within your account. These settings allow you to simplify the dropdown menus and align your contact structure with how your team actually works.

Functions: To the right of each contact type there will be options to:

  • Require Lead Source: This will make it a requirement to choose a lead source when assigning the contact type to the contact.

  • Make Default: By selecting the star icon for that contact type, it will automatically assign this contact type to all new contacts being added into your account.

  • Delete: This will bring a pop up for you to reassign contacts that have this type to a new type, then you will be able to delete that type.
