In this article, we cover:
ProLine allows you to manage commissions that are applied to quotes and projects. Commissions in ProLine are applied to quotes on a project basis. You can assign commissions to team members and edit them as needed throughout the project lifecycle.
Creating a New Commission
To manage commissions from a higher level:
Click the hamburger menu (☰) to open the main menu.
Navigate to the Manage Team page.
In the commissions area, you can add or remove commissions.
Note: Commissions can't be edited once created. If you need to change someone's commission, create a new commission and then assign it to them.
Assigning Commissions to Team Members
Assigning a default commission to a team member ensures that when they are assigned to a project, the commission is automatically applied. If a team member does not have a commission assigned, no commission will be applied to projects they are assigned to.
Click the hamburger menu (☰) to open the main menu.
Navigate to the Manage Team page.
Click to open a team member profile.
Change the assigned commission.
Save the team member profile.
Changing Commissions for Project/Quote
Note: Commissions are set for an entire project, not per quote. So both methods below will change the commission for the entire project.
Method #1: From Budget Planner
Within an open quote draft, go to the Budget Planner in the upper-right corner.
Alternatively, select a project with a quote or create a new quote for that project.
In the Budget Planner, you will see the commission assigned to a team member.
You can select different options or upgrades to see how the commission is likely to change.
Method #2: From Budget Tab
Commissions can be edited from the Budget Tab at any time during the project:
Within an open project, go to the Budget Tab:
Navigate to the Commission line and click on the settings icon next to it to edit the commission details.
Changes will be recalculated automatically based on the new selections.
Commission Calculation Methods
ProLine offers three different ways to calculate commissions, allowing for a variety of commission structures.
Job Total Commission: This method calculates the commission based on a percentage of the total job revenue.
Example: For a 7% job commission, you would set the Job Total Commission to 7%.
Profit Split Commission: This method allows for more complex structures, such as a split between the salesperson and the company.
Example: A 15-50-50 split could be set up with 15% overhead deduction and the remaining profit split 50-50.
Real-Time Commission Calculation: ProLine calculates commissions in real-time based on the final numbers after all costs, change orders, discounts, etc. This ensures that commissions are accurate and reflective of the final project totals.
