****IMPORTANT: THE DEADLINE HAS CHANGED FOR 2018 TO MAY 15th.****

The deadline to file an appeal in Texas USE TO BE May 31st, but while in secession for 2017, the Texas Legislature changed the deadline to May 15th, or 30 days after you receive your notice (whichever comes later). Most homeowner's deadline will be May 15th. 

Examples

  1. You receive your notice on April 1st. The deadline to file an appeal is May 15th. Why? Because May 15th is the greater of 30 days from April 1st (30 days from April 1st would be May 1st)
  2. You receive your notice on May 1st. The deadline to file an appeal is May 31st. Why? Because 30 days from the date of the notice (May 31st) is greater than May 15th.
  3. You receive your notice on August 1st. The deadline to file an appeal is August 31st. Because 30 days from the date of the notice (August 31st) is greater than May 15th.
