Introduction
This guide will walk you through the process of grading assignments in Proserva, covering both instructor configuration options and what students experience. Proserva offers a variety of grading configurations, including automations linking competencies based on grading outcomes.
Part 1: Instructor Configuration
1. Accessing Grading Options
Start by navigating to My Courses and Workshops within Proserva.
Select the course or program you’re working on. In this example, we’ll use a course titled “Integrating AI in a Subocean Civilization.”
Go to the Course Content section and locate the assignment you wish to grade.
2. Grading Options Overview
Ungraded: Simple option for assignments where grading is not necessary. Ideal for exercises meant to stimulate thought or practice without impacting the overall grade.
Graded: This option allows you to assign points, set due dates, and adjust assignment weight within the course.
3. Assignment Weight Management
You can change the weight of an individual assignment. If you want a broader view of how this affects the entire course, use the Manage Lesson Weights feature.
4. Adding Rubrics
Proserva supports the addition of rubrics to assignments. These can be customized by adding specific categories or using pre-configured rubrics.
Rubrics can be tied to grading automation, especially useful for Track Completion options.
5. Track Completion Settings
Simple Completion: Marks the assignment as complete or incomplete.
Instructor Verified Pass/Fail: The instructor reviews and marks the assignment as either pass or fail. This can be tied to rubrics for automated grading.
6. Automated Rubric Integration
When using the Instructor Verified Pass/Fail option, you can set the system to automatically assign rubric scores based on whether the assignment is passed or failed.
Part 2: Student Experience
1. Submitting Assignments
Students upload their assignments through the course interface. They can also unsubmit and resubmit assignments if necessary.
Depending on the settings, students may need to mark their assignment as complete once uploaded.
2. Viewing Grades
Once an assignment is graded, students can view their results. They will see whether they passed or failed, and if a rubric was used, detailed feedback can be accessed.
Students can see private comments and detailed grades under the Grade and Private Comments tab.
Part 3: Instructor Grading Process
1. Using the Grade Book
After students submit their assignments, you can access the Grade Book to review and grade each submission.
Assignments can be marked as pass or fail, and grades can be manually adjusted if necessary.
Rubric-linked automation will automatically update based on the assigned grade.
2. Handling Multiple Submissions
Typically, you’ll work with a column of students per assignment, allowing for streamlined grading.
3. Returning Grades to Students
Once grading is complete, return the grades to students, who will then see the updates in their view.
Grading assignments in Proserva is designed to be flexible and efficient, with options for both simple and complex grading needs. Automation through rubrics can save time and ensure consistent grading. If you require further assistance or have questions, please reach out to Proserva support. We’re here to help!
