What is Twitch?
Twitch is a live streaming platform where creators broadcast in real time. While it is best known for gaming, Twitch also hosts live Music and DJ streams.
Important: Twitch is not an on-demand music service like Spotify or Apple Music. Tracks are not searchable or playable as a listening catalog. Music appears on Twitch as part of live video content, most notably DJ livestreams.
What is the Twitch DJ Program?
The Twitch DJ Program provides a structured way for DJs to livestream DJ sets on Twitch while following clear music usage rules.
If you’re enrolled as a DJ, the program allows you to:
Livestream DJ sets in Twitch’s official DJ category
Use tracks that are approved for the program
Access program-specific guidance, tools, and discovery features provided by Twitch
The program exists to create clarity for DJs, viewers, and rightsholders around how music is used in DJ livestreams on Twitch.

I’m a label or artist on Proton — do I need to do anything?
No action is required! If your releases are distributed through Proton, your catalog (including back catalog and new releases) is automatically delivered for Twitch usage, so it can be used in participating DJ Program livestreams.
How do monetization & reporting work?
Here’s how it currently works:
Twitch earns revenue from ads and paid subscriptions on participating DJ channels
A portion of that revenue is allocated to music rightsholders
Royalties are distributed based on identified music usage in participating DJ Program livestreams
Note: Track-level usage reporting and usage-based royalties apply only to music used in official Twitch DJ Program livestreams.
Why a company called Audible Magic is involved
To enable track identification and reporting for the DJ Program, Twitch works with Audible Magic, its official music identification partner. Audible Magic recognizes tracks played in DJ Program livestreams so usage can be measured and royalties can be calculated. Proton delivers your catalog to Audible Magic so your tracks can be identified and cleared for use in Twitch DJ Program streams.
