Spotify's Upcoming tab does not support Remixes or Compilations.

If you're an artist using "Spotify for Artists", or a music label using "Spotify Analytics", then you probably know about the "Upcoming" tab on these tools, which helps you submit feature requests to Spotify!

After a release is scheduled on Proton, it will generally take 3-4 business days to appear in the "Upcoming" tab in Spotify for Artists or Spotify Analytics.

However, there are a few scenarios where Spotify does NOT support releases appearing in your upcoming tab:

  • Remixes - If you're a remixer on a release, you will NOT see your remix appearing in the "Upcoming" tab of Spotify for Artists unless your music label added you as a "Headline Artist" to the release. Generally, a headline artist is only allowed if you're involved with *every* track on the release. NOTE: Music labels can still pitch remixes as long as they have a working Spotify Analytics account!

  • Compilations - If your release features Various Artists, like on a compilation, then the release will NOT appear in either Spotify Analytics OR Spotify for Artists. This means music labels and artists both cannot pitch a feature for a track from a "Various Artists" compilation.

The above issues are bugs/issues with Spotify itself, and we hope they fix them in the future. To give your feedback to Spotify about these issues, you can email them:

This isn't acceptable. Is there any workaround?

Yes! If you're unhappy about not being able to pitch your release, then there are potentially some solutions available to you:

Remixes - Remix artists can ask their music label to re-release your remix 100% on its own, with no other track on the release. When this happens, you can be added as a Headline Artist to the release, then it will appear in your "Upcoming" tab for pitching.

Compilations - Music Labels can edit their compilation and remove "Various Artists" as the headline artist, and instead select up to 3 headline artists to appear instead. After submitting corrections, the release will then appear in the "Upcoming" tab for the label and these 3 artists.

  • IMPORTANT: If you decide to add "Headline Artists" to your compilation, please speak to those artists first and make sure they're OK with you making this change. When they're added as a "Headline Artist", it means the music will appear as an album on their artist profile!
