Spotify now requires preferred providers like Proton to include the full legal names of artists on every track, which get displayed in the “Credits” section of the Spotify app.

By default, the First & Last Name of original artists and remix artists will be sent to Spotify to be included in the "Credits" section of their app, for each song.

Is it possible to hide/prevent the First & Last Name of an artist from being public?

  • Yes! This guide includes instructions on how to force Spotify to display the Artist name instead of the First & Last Names of your artists. Keep reading for details.

Is it possible to add additional composers or producers to Spotify credits, in addition to the artists involved?

  • Yes, label managers at Proton can add additional composers or producers to any track by adding them as an artist to the release under the "Producer" role, or the "Lyricist" role -- select "Lyricist" for additional composers.

Hiding First & Last Names from Spotify's Credits

If you're an artist, and want your First & Last Name hidden from the credits in Spotify, you can follow the below steps...

  • Step 1 - Sign into the Proton and head over to your Pro Access area, which lists the Artist Profile(s) connected to your account.

  • Step 2 - Next to the Artist Profile you want to update, click the "Edit" button.

  • Step 3 - In the "Members" section of your Artist Profile, find & click the option: "Hide Artist Member Name(s) on Spotify"

IMPORTANT: This will hide the First & Last Names of your artist's member(s) for all new releases going forward, which have not been scheduled yet by your label manager(s). This will NOT automatically update old releases that have already arrived on Spotify!

If you need to update a PAST release, please contact your label manager and ask them to "Submit Corrections" for any past release you need updated.
