For most electronic music labels, a promo pool costs time AND money. But at Proton, our promo pool costs neither -- and actually helps a music label EARN money!

When you add a DJ or Artist to your promo pool on Proton, they will automatically be allowed to feature your label in their mixes on Spotify & Apple Music. This helps you supercharge streaming earnings, because:

  • DJ Mixes on average are boosting paid plays by over 10% for each track featured in a mix. This means if a DJ features your track in their mix, chances are your paid plays will increase by 10%. And that's just for one mix!

  • Since 2018, mixes on Spotify & Apple Music have driven over 7 million paid plays for our labels.

  • DJs earn 10% of royalties on each mix, incentivizing them to make mixes & promote them, which helps you and your artists earn more money. You and your artists earn the same amount of money from a DJ Mix play than an unmixed play: the DJ's 10% comes from Proton's own share as distributor.

So, the more DJs you add to your promo pool, the more likely you'll earn more -- without doing any extra work!

You cannot block DJs in your promo pool from playing your music on Spotify & Apple Music. If you don’t want a DJ playing your music in their mixes, do NOT add them to your promo pool.

How do DJs in my promo pool upload their mixes?

If a DJ asks you how they can upload mixes to Spotify & Apple Music featuring your label, you can share this article with them here. We'll be making continuous upgrades and improvements to Proton to make it easier all the time.
