Geo-Targeting Capabilities Across Proxy Types

Different Proxiware proxy products support different levels of geo-targeting. This article explains what each product supports and how to configure location targeting in your dashboard.

Geo-Targeting by Proxy Type

Premium Residential

Country, State, City, ASN, ZIP code, and OS targeting. The most granular geo-targeting available across all proxy types.

Eco Residential

Country, State, and City targeting. Note that state-level targeting is only supported for the United States. For all other countries, use country or city targeting only — including a state parameter for non-US countries will not work as expected.

Unlimited Residential

Country and City targeting across 195 countries.

Mobile

Country, State, and Carrier targeting. City targeting is not supported. Carrier targeting is ASN-based and available in the dashboard under the "Carrier" option — for example, AT&T Mobile corresponds to ASN 7018. Note that state targeting significantly reduces the available IP pool and can cause connection failures; carrier targeting is recommended for more stable connections.

Datacenter

Country-level targeting.

Static ISP

Country-level targeting. Available in 8 countries: United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Germany, France, Italy, Poland, and China.

How to Set Your Location

Location targeting is configured in the proxy builder inside your product dashboard:

  1. Log in and navigate to the dashboard section for your proxy type.

  2. Select your target country from the country dropdown.

  3. If your proxy type supports it, state and city dropdowns will appear after selecting a country.

  4. Confirm your selection — your proxy string will update automatically to reflect the targeting parameters.

You can also set targeting manually by editing your proxy string directly. Full syntax is available in the documentation.

Tips for Better Results

  • If a specific city has no available IPs, try a nearby larger city or remove city-level targeting to broaden the pool.

  • For maximum IP availability, target at the country level and let the network select the best available IP.

  • On Mobile proxies, use carrier targeting instead of state targeting for more reliable connections — fewer available nodes at the state level can cause connection failures.

  • ASN targeting (Premium Residential) is useful when your target platform expects traffic from a specific ISP or network.

  • OS targeting (Premium Residential) lets you match the device profile of your target audience — Android, Windows, or Mac.
