How to Configure Proxy Settings on Windows 10 (Step-by-Step)

To change and configure proxy settings on Windows 10, follow these steps:

  1. Press the Win + R key combination on your keyboard.
    In the Run window that appears, type:

    inetcpl.cpl

    Then click OK.

    Press the key combination «Win» + «R». A window will appear where «inetcpl.cpl» is must be entered
  2. In the Internet Properties window, open the Connections tab. Click the LAN settings button.

    Go to the «Connection» tab, put a mark in front of the inscription «network setup»
  3. In the Local Area Network (LAN) Settings window:

    • Check the box Use a proxy server for your LAN.

    • Click Advanced if you need to configure specific protocols.

    Click «Use a proxy server for local connections and go to «Advanced»
  4. Enter your proxy details:

    • In the Address field, type the proxy server IP address.

    • In the Port field, enter the port number.

    • If required, check Use the same proxy server for all protocols.

    Enter the proxy data. In the first field, you should type a server IP address
  5. If you need to exclude certain websites from using the proxy, add them to the Exceptions field.

    Enter websites for which a proxy server is not required
  6. Click OK, then Apply, and OK again to save the changes. Your proxy setup on Windows 10 is now complete!

How to Disable Proxy Settings in Windows 10

  1. Press Win + R, type:

    inetcpl.cpl

    and click OK.

    Press «Win+R» and type «inetcpl.cpl»
  2. In the Internet Properties window, open the Connections tab.

    Select the «Connections» tab and press the «LAN settings» button
  3. Click LAN settings.

  4. In the Local Area Network (LAN) Settings window:

    • Uncheck Use a proxy server for your LAN.

    • Uncheck Bypass proxy server for local addresses.

  5. Click OK, then Apply, and OK again to confirm.

    Take off the «Use a proxy server for your LAN» and «Bypass proxy server for local addresses» checkboxes. Press the «OK»

    Done! The proxy has been successfully disabled on Windows 10.
