Here are the three most commonly used options to configure a proxy on popular Linux distributions, including Astra Linux, Kali Linux, and Ubuntu. Follow the steps for your system to correctly apply proxy settings.

How to Set Up a Proxy on Ubuntu Linux

  1. Open Settings by clicking the gear icon in the sidebar.

  2. Go to the Network section and click the gear icon next to Network Proxy.

  3. Select Manual mode, then enter the IP address and port into the field that matches your proxy type.

  4. Close the window and reboot your device to apply the changes. Authorization window will appear after reboot — enter your username and password there.

How to Set Up a Proxy on Kali Linux

  1. Click the arrow in the upper-right corner of the main screen.

  3. Select Network Proxy from the left-hand menu.

  5. Enter the IP address and port of your proxy server into the field that matches your proxy type.

How to Set Up a Proxy on Astra Linux

  3. Open the Proxy tab and enter the IP address and port of your proxy server into the fields that match your protocol type.

  4. Save the settings. Authorization window will appear — enter your proxy username and password to complete the setup.
