Video Tutorial: Configuring a Proxy in Proxy Helper
Proxy Helper is a simple browser extension that allows you to configure and manage proxy connections. Follow the steps below to set it up correctly.
Open your browser's extension store, search for Proxy Helper, and click Add or Install. Once installed, the extension icon will appear in your browser toolbar. If you don't see it, check your extensions panel and pin it for easy access.
Click the Proxy Helper icon in your toolbar, then select Options from the dropdown menu. This opens the main configuration panel.
Choose the protocol that matches your proxy server — HTTP, HTTPS, or SOCKS5. Then enter the corresponding IP address and port number in the fields provided.
Navigate to the Authorization tab and enter your username and password.
Click save, then click the extension icon and select your newly configured proxy profile to activate it. The icon may change color or display a badge to indicate the proxy is active.
Advanced Options
Bypass Rules — Head to the Rules tab to create exceptions for specific domains or IP ranges that should connect directly, bypassing the proxy entirely.
PAC Scripts — For more dynamic setups, Proxy Helper supports Proxy Auto-Configuration (PAC) scripts. A PAC file is a small JavaScript file that tells your browser whether to route each request through the proxy based on the URL. This is ideal for users who need different rules for different websites without changing settings manually each time.
Done! The proxy setup in Proxy Helper has been successfully completed.
