Some weeks ago, one of the PULPO WMS customers serving a fashion brand got into a situation when the pre-sale items from a new collection not yet ready for sale (but available for pre-order) were mixed with the items from the older collections already available in the warehouse. PULPO WMS was capable enough to solve the issue and help the customer proceed with shipping using the Fulfillment Orders functionality.

What is a fulfillment order?

The fulfillment order is another layer of the sales order: a single sales order can include multiple fulfillment orders, each containing one or multiple different SKUs. PULPO WMS can split the order into several fulfillment orders by quantity of items or product tag(s).

What was the problem?

The available and unavailable items were combined in sales orders, making it extremely difficult to change the orders and remove the items.

What was the solution?

The solution suggested by PULPO WMS was to use the fulfillment orders functionality to split the orders into fulfillments by the product tag.

The merchant had to update pre-sale orders with the "presale" tag in his system, and in PULPO the splitting of orders into fulfillments based on the tag was set up.
It meant that each sales order was split into two fulfillments:

  • one for presale items having the "pre-sale" tag (and it can be paused until the items reach the warehouse)

  • another one for the items available for shipment.

Available items could be shipped, and the orders were marked as Partially Fulfilled on Shopify. Once the pre-sale items are there, they will be sent to the customers making the split orders completely fulfilled.
