Get key insights from your searches delivered straight into your inbox and never miss out on key changes in the conversation you are tracking.

Today we are stoked to announce the release of a sophisticated (yet easy to use) set of alerting tools to help you decide what information you want to be alerted about, how you want to be alerted, and when. Whether it’s a spike in mentions or an increase in visibility, or certain influencers appearing in your searches, our new Alerts and Notification system will allow you to set this up quickly, sit back, and ensure that you never miss a beat.

What’s exciting about our new alerts is that you can now leverage our powerful filtering capabilities, allowing you to get alerts based on your existing saved filters, or set up an alert based on pretty much anything you want to monitor, by simply creating a new filter. The ability to create a new filter from scratch means you can be even more specific about what you want to be alerted on! For example, alert me when positive mentions of my brand, from the US only, increases by x volume of mentions.

That’s right you can now choose to either get alerted on absolute volume increase or decrease, or percentage increase or decrease.

What can you use Alerts for, you ask?

  1. Be the first to know when a topic is heating up (or cooling down), by setting up simple keyword based alerts.

  2. Get alerts about negative conversations, which might be problematic for your brand, by setting up alerts based on sentiment.

  3. Understand when certain authors or communities join a conversation around a topic, by setting up an alert using the authors or communities filters.

  4. Set up geographic alerts if you want to know how your brand is performing in a specific geolocation or if you’re interested in monitoring the conversations from a specific country or region.

  5. Identify your promoters and detractors from the Influencers section, and then keep an eye on their activity.

  6. Get alerted on any other KPIs that are relevant to your brand, so not just sentiment and volume alerts, also but engagements, visibility or even emotions.

And so much more!

Because you now have the option to set up your alerts based on filters, to get the most of these new search tools, we recommend reading up on our filters for TRAC and our filter operator guide.

How do I set up alerts?

You can access the alerts section by going into the settings of your search, and selecting “Alerts”. Setting up an alert is very easy, but make sure your search is running in real time!

  • Name the alert

  • Choose to use a saved filter or create a new filter

  • Pick what metrics you want to be alerted on

  • And when

  • Then specify which unit of measurement you want to use

  • And choose how often you want to receive the alert

  • Then select the alert benchmark you want to use

  • And lastly choose your email recipients

And that’s it! When your alert threshold is met, you will receive this via email and through in-app notifications, which you will find on the top right of your screen next to your username. For more information on how to setup alerts on Pulsar, then check out the video explainer below.

And if you have any additional questions, then you can check out our handy FAQs below:

We are looking forward to seeing how you will use the new alerts, and as usual, leave us some feedback on Collaborate, or hit us up via the in-app chat.
