Creating your custom sort type is straightforward. Pick a unique name for your filter, and add the details of your custom sort type - that simple. Are you ready to create your first custom sort type?

This article will help you create a custom sort type for Basic, Basic (particular order), and Advanced.

Basic Type

For both Basic Custom Sort Type, refer to the steps below:

1. Navigate to Collections Sort and click Custom Sort Type.

2. Click Create Custom Sort Type.

3. Create a unique name for your custom sort type.

4. Select a custom sort type.

There are two types that you can choose from Basic or Advanced.

5. Basic custom sort type lets you select up to 3 multiple sort types and apply them to sort collections. They will be used one by one from the top.

In Basic type, you have an option - "Collection id"- showing you another box where you need to type in the collection ID. (* Collection id is the number that appears after the following URL "/admin/collections/" in the Shopify admin page)

With this custom sort type, you can apply for the same order in the collection to the others. (*It will push down products if they are not in the collection)

You can select the custom sort type and use it as one of the sort types in your new custom sort type (both basic and advanced)

Basic (Particular Order)

The Basic (Particular Order) lets you create a custom sort type with product tag, title, type, SKU, and vendor. This type of filter is your perfect choice for sorting products that you want to be listed in the arrangement that you prefer. You can combine a variation of each sorting type to give you the best custom filter for your collection.

Let's create a Basic (Particular Order) custom sort type.

1. Choose the filter that you want to use from the list.

2. Type a text in the field and click Add, or hit enter on your keyboard.

You can add up to 30 unique filters and arrange them later on once you're finished.

3. Drag and drop the text to the arrangement (pattern) that you want and click Apply.

4. Sort products by the above pattern

If you don't check this checkbox, you will see all products that contain "26 English alphabet" in their SKU, all products with "toy", and all products with "USA".

However, if you enable the feature, the system will sort your products based on the order of your specified keywords (26 English alphabet, toy, USA). In this example, the product with "26 English alphabet" in its SKU will be listed first, followed by products containing "toy" and "USA". The number of products displayed in each group is determined by the product count you set per group. For example, if you set the count to 3, you will see three products with "26 English alphabet", three products with "toy", and three products with "USA".

5. Click the Exact match checkbox if you want to follow the exact text that you used.

In this example, both Exact match and Sort products by the above pattern checkboxes are clicked. We also have "1" product that we want to display per group. So, once you sort your collection, it will give us the products and order of our list to this one: 26 english alphabet, toy, and USA.

6. Review the details of your custom sort type and click Save.

Lastly, you will also find the custom sort type when you are creating a new custom sort type. Both the Basic and Advanced custom sort types have it.

Advanced Type

In the Advanced type, you can give weights to sort types. Here are examples of how to use this.

Example 1: You selected "Most views" and "Highest Add to carts" and gave both 100 weights. Then, the app will provide them with 50 and 50 equal weights when it sorts collections with the custom sort type.

Example 2: If you give 50 to "Most views" and 100 to "Add to carts", then the app will provide 1/3 to "Most views" and 2/3 to "Add to carts".

You can add up to 10 different sort types and give different weights to them.

Review your new custom sort type. If you are satisfied with it, click the Save button to create the custom sort type.

And that's how you create a new custom sort type. Find your unique sort types that work best for your store and increase sales!
