Increase urgency and reduce cart abandonment using Countdown Timers

One of the handiest features of Ouiteo is the ability to easily create Countdown Timers for your marketing campaigns. Add a virtual Countdown Timer on your shop's landing page and create an urgency for potential buyers to purchase the currently available products. The system provides everything you need to create and design your custom Countdown Timers.

Are you ready to create your Countdown Timer?

Let's go!

1. Go to Sales Manager and click Countdown Timer.

2. Click the + Create Countdown Timer button.

3. There are 5 parts that you need to complete before successfully creating a Countdown Timer:

Part 1: Styling


This will be the first part of the Countdown Timer creation process. All changes can already be viewed in real-time, so you can instantly see the Countdown Timer you are designing. From here, you can choose from our pre-defined templates, but you can fully customize the timer's colours, fonts, and theme.

1. From the pre-defined section, choose a template that you want to use.

2. You can also customize the different elements of the timer by navigating to the Choose advanced colors section.

3. Change the font size and style using these controls.

Pro tip: Every change you perform can be viewed in real-time in the Countdown Timer design preview.

4. You also have the option to change the background colour of the timer's button and change its text's colour for contrast.

5. Set the Countdown Timer's Message 1 and 2 text colour with this control.

6. Last, choose the theme of your choice timer from this list.

7. Review your timer's styling. If satisfied with the results, click Next to proceed to the next section.

Part 2: Text Configuration


This next section lets you configure all the text in your timer. You also have the option to fully customize the countdown timer's button such as its URL link, text, and the function that it will perform once a user clicked it.

1. Change the timer name by typing a unique name here.

Pro tip: Always practice good naming conventions for your Countdown Timers so your naming will be consistent, organized, and easy to find.

2. Type the first message of your Countdown Timer before the timer clock.

3. Add your second text located after the timer clock.

4. Toggle this button to add a call-to-action button to redirect potential buyers to your store.

5. Then, type the text of the button.

6. Add the URL link of the call-to-action button.

Pro tip: Always ensure you add the correct and working URL here.

7. You can also open the link to a new tab once a potential buyer clicks the call-to-action button of your Countdown Timer.

8. Last, enable this option to automatically hide the "days" part of your Countdown Timer once it reaches 0.

9. Review your text configuration, and if you're satisfied with the results, click Next to proceed to the next section.

Part 3: Position & Targeting


This next section lets you set the positioning of your Countdown Timer, what you are targeting, and the campaign schedule.

1. Set where to position the Countdown Timer (fixed or not). You can place it on the top, bottom, or below your *product page's "Add to cart" button.

*For the best viewing results, set Message 2 to blank and disable the call-to-action button.

2. Next, choose your target options.

You can only choose one target per Countdown Timer. The following are the target options that you choose:

  • All the pages: Select this option to display the Countdown Timer on all your website's pages.

  • Home page only: This option will only show the Countdown Timer on your website's home page.

  • Target specific products: This option will display the Countdown Timer in the products that you specifically chose.

    1. Click the Select Products button to start choosing specific products.


    2. Add the products where the Countdown Timer will be shown.


    Pro tip: Use the Search Box to quickly find a product from your collection.


    3. To clear your selection and pick the products from this list, click Clear selection.


    4. Click Submit to save your selected products.

    5. You will now see that the number of the products you've targeted will display here.


  • Target products associated with collection: Select this option to display the Countdown Timer in all the products included in your chosen collection.

    1. Once this option is picked, click the Select Collection button.


    2. Then select a collection from the list.

    Pro tip: Use the Search Box to quickly find a collection from the list.


    3. Once done, click Submit.

    4. The collection you've chosen will now appear in this area.


  • Target products associated with price editor bulk job: This option will display the Countdown Timer on the products scheduled for bulk edit.

    1. Once this target is selected, click Select Job.


    Note: If you enable this toggle, changes to the timer will be allowed whenever a job change is performed.


    2. Select a bulk edit task from the list and click Submit.


    3. This will now display the bulk edit task that you've picked.


  • Target products associated with sales campaign: This option will display the Countdown Timer of the products related to your chosen sales campaign. Everything can be done in the same way as the one for Target products associated with price editor bulk job

3. Once you have decided what products to target, it is time to set up your timer's schedule.

If you want your countdown timer to continuously run regardless of other settings, enable the Always show toggle.

To set a scheduled timer, click the Schedule countdown - One time button and select the start and end date.

You also have the option to recur a schedule by clicking the Schedule countdown - Repeat button and setting up the frequency of how it will be repeated.

4. Review your Countdown Timer's Position and Targeting. If you are happy with the results, click Next to proceed to the next section.

Part 4: Activation


The Activation section controls whether you want your Countdown Timer to be activated. But before starting your timer, you must carefully review a couple of checklists.

First, you should only enable the Countdown Timer when you have already created an advanced schedule. You can activate multiple timers at once as long as they are scheduled in advance and don't overlap. Last but not least, your current schedule should always be within the range of the Start and End date you've set.

If you met the following checklist mentioned above, click Next.

Part 5: Review and Submit


This is the last section where you can review and finalize the Countdown Timer. All details are already provided, including the final actual timer appearing in all the collections or products you've chosen. If you still have changes that you need to perform, click the Previous button. Otherwise, click Submit to create the Countdown Timer.

You can preview the actual timer from your store by clicking the Yes button from this pop-out window.

You'll now see your actual Countdown Timer displayed on each product that you've chosen earlier from the Countdown Timer wizard.
