Installing Advanced Reporting Server
The Advanced Reporting Server leverages Wyn Enterprise for the reporting engine on Pulseway version 9.22 and above.
Pulseway highly recommends that the Advanced Reporting Server is installed separately from the Pulseway Application Server to ensure optimal performance.
The product key for Advanced Reporting must be different for each Advanced Reporting Server.
Requirements
The Advanced Reporting service runs on a Windows platform. This installation guide is based on a single server running Wyn Enterprise. The Wyn Server does need a database to install its own databases.
Server Requirements
Windows Server 2016+
16+ GB RAM
4 Cores CPU
IIS
Wyn License Code (request the installer via support ticket)
Wyn installer package (request the installer via support ticket)
7zip or equivalent software to unpack a *.7z file
An FQDN DNS must be configured for the Advanced Reporting Server, along with an SSL certificate. A .pfx file and its password will be required to complete the Advanced Reporting installation.
Firewall port
Port 443 needs to be enabled for both inbound and outbound traffic on the Pulseway Application and Reporting Server.
Begin Installation
The installation of Advanced Reporting must be performed on both the server designated to run Advanced Reporting and the Pulseway application server.
Please note that this installer supports new installations only.
The installer is command-based, and future versions will be integrated into the Pulseway GUI installer.
Steps to follow on Advanced Reporting Server
1) Place the installer in a folder of your choice on your Advanced Reporting Server and the Pulseway Application Server. Then unzip the contents to the folder.
Once the files are unzipped change into the C:\AdvancedReportingInstaller\RequiredFiles directory.
2) Place your .pfx certificate in the above directory and ensure the certificate name is same as FQDN
3) Open the cert.info text file.
Edit the cert.info text file with the certificate FQDN name and the password.
4) Run the installer AdvancedReportingInstaller.exe as an administrator.
5) When executed, you will be presented with 4 options. Make sure your on the Advance reporting server that will run Advanced Reporting and select option 1.
Please note that this license key is not the same as the Pulseway RMM license key. A separate license is required specifically for the Advanced Reporting Server.
6) Enter License Key and hit enter
Next you will be prompted to install the reporting server URL. It must have the proper format as shown below (make sure to type https://ar). Otherwise, it will display a format error.
If you want notification when reports have been completed, you can set up notification center. In this documentation, we will skip this step for now. Enter ‘n’.
The installer will now install all required binaries for the Advanced Reporting Server. This should only take a few minutes to run.
Once completed, hit any key and it will close the installer window. You have now installed the Wyn Reporting Server.
Verify if you can reach the Wyn Reporting Server bi-center login page <AdvancedReporting URL>/bi-center
Steps to follow on Pulseway RMM Server
Create a folder to place the installation zip file. Unzip the file into the installation folder just created or a new folder.
1) Execute the AdvancedReportingInstallation executable as an Administrator. Since this is the Application Server, you will enter “2” this time.
2) You will be promoted to enter the URL of the Advanced Reporting Server.
Once the installation is done, hit any key to close the window.
Verify Installation
After Advanced Reporting is installed, you should now see the Advance Reporting show up in the Pulseway RMM UI. It may take a few minutes for this to occur.
If you don’t see it in the left panel, restart IIS on the application server and try logging in again.
If this doesn’t work, restart the Application Server itself and try again.
Error Logs
Error logs will be in the C:\logs directory on the Application Server as well as on the Advanced Reporting Server. They will be named with a prefix of AdvancedReportingInstallation_[date].
In addition, error messages are also displayed in the Windows Event logs.
For any issues, please contact support@pulseway.com with the logs.
