How to set up PureVPN manually on Windows 7 OpenVPN

This is a complete guide on How to setup L2TP manually on Windows 7. It’s a great help for new windows users.

Installing OpenVPN

  • Click 👉here to download PureVPN OpenVPN installer.

  • Right click OpenVPN installer and select Properties.

Right click on OpenVPN installer and select properties.
  • From General tab, click Unblock, Apply and OK.

From General Tab, click on "Unblock", "Apply" and "OK"
  • Right Click OpenVPN installer and select Open or double click to execute.

  • Click Yes to allow installation.

Click "Yes" to allow installation
  • Click Next.

Click "Next"
  • Click I agree.

Click "I agree"
  • Click Next.

Click "Next"
  • Click Install to begin installation.

Click "Install" to begin installation
  • Enable Always trust software from GZ systems limited and click Install.

Check "Always trust software from "GZ Systems Limited" and click Install
  • Click Next once installation completes.

Click "Next" once installation completes
  • Uncheck Show Readme and click Finish.

Uncheck "Show Readme" and click on Finish

Configure OpenVPN

  • Right click OpenVPN GUI icon and click Run as admin.

  • Click Yes to allow application to run.

Click "Yes" to allow application to run
  • Right click OpenVPN icon from system tray, choose your desired server and click Connect.

Right click on OpenVPN icon from System tray, go to desired server and select "Connect"
  • Enter your PureVPN credentials. Here is how you can find your VPN credentials.

Insert Username and Password provided by PureVPN.( Important Note: Your email address is not your VPN login username. )
  • VPN connection will be established in few seconds.

VPN will establish connection in few seconds
  • You are now connected. Select the Network as public.

You are connected now. Select Network location as Public.
  • Click Close.

Click on "Close" and Enjoy the Freedom!

Disconnect

  • Right click OpenVPN icon from system tray, go to connected server and click Disconnect.

To disconnect OpenVPN. Right click on OpenVPN Icon from System tray, go to connected server and select "Disconnect"

Saving Account Details

  • Right click OpenVPN icon from system tray, go to desired server and click Edit config.

  • Add pass.conf after auth-user-pass parameter and save.

  • Open notepad and insert PureVPN Credentials (i-e Username and Password) and save it as pass.conf.

Open notepad and insert Username in first line and password in second line then save it as pass.conf
  • Open folder where you save the file, click tools menu and click folder options.

  • Click View tab and uncheck Hide Extensions for known file types, click Apply and OK.

  • Right click pass.conf.txt.file and rename it.

  • From pass.conf.txt, remove.txt and hit enter.

  • Click Yes.

From pass.conf.txt, remove .txt, hit enter and click on "Yes"
  • Go to OpenVPN installation folder and copy pass.conf file in config folder.

Open OpenVPN installation folder (C:\Program Files\OpenVPN\config) and drag / copy pass.conf file in config folder
  • Click Continue to copy file.

Click "Continue" to copy file
  • Repeat below steps to edit all servers.

Step A: Right click OpenVPN icon from system tray, go to the desired server and click edit config.

Step B: Add pass.conf after auth-user-pass parameter and save.
