What to do if I no longer need a system or container?

If you, as a patient or business, have a PureWay system or container on site and no longer need it, you have the following options:

  1. You can use the prepaid return shipping label to ship the system in at no cost.

  2. If the shipping box was destroyed, you can contact our support team to request a replacement (additional charges may apply) via:

    1. Chat widget.

    2. Phone: 877.765.3030

    3. Or by email at support@pureway.com.

  3. If you have the system completely packaged and sealed with the return shipping label on the outer box flap, at number four visible on the top of the system, you can take the system to the nearest shipping office, and you can also use the prepaid return label to return the system.

What Should I Do If I Lost the Shipping Box for My PureWay Sharps Container?

If you've misplaced or lost the original shipping box for your PureWay sharps container, the solution depends on how you obtained your container:

  1. If you received your container through a free program (e.g., in California):

    • Request a new sharps container through the same free program.

    • When the new container arrives, use the box and return shipping label included with it to send back your full container.

  2. If you are not part of a free program:

    • You will need to purchase a full sharps container system from PureWay.

    • Use the shipping box and label provided with the new system to return your full container.

  3. For replacement requests:

    • Provide your shipping address to our support team via:

      • Chat widget.

      • Phone: 877.765.3030.

      • Or by email at support@pureway.com.

    • Typical delivery times for replacement systems range from 4–7 business days.

What happens when the system is returned? / What happens to the waste?

  • The system/waste that is returned to PureWay is treated according to proper state and federal regulations so that is it no longer hazardous.

  • After the waste is treated using either an autoclave, incinerator, or alternative treatment, depending on where the system is sent, the waste may be recycled or sent to the nearest landfill.

  • PureWay makes all efforts to use eco-friendly options to safely transport, treat and recycle waste.

Can I request a larger container for my medication return?

  • No, it's not possible to request a larger container for a medication return.

  • The current container size is determined based on the type and quantity of medication prescribed, and we are only permitted to provide containers that align with those guidelines.

  • If you require a larger container for personal use, you are welcome to purchase an additional sharps container directly from our website at www.pureway.com.

Can I resell my sharps container or give it to a friend?

  • We do not recommend donating, sharing, or reselling your unused containers.

  • Each container is assigned specifically to you and linked to your name and address in the system manifest.

  • Sharing it with another patient could create privacy risks, and more importantly, compliance issues, as the disposal traceability and liability remain under your name.

  • If you have containers you won’t be using, please contact our support team for guidance on appropriate return or disposal options via:

    • Chat widget (request to talk with a human agent).

    • Email at support@pureway.com.

    • Or by phone number: 877-765-3030.

How long can I keep the sharps container before I need to return it?

  • Some states have regulations that prevent you from storing the container for businesses and healthcare facilities past a certain timeframe. For example:

    • Michigan has a requirement that all sharps waste must be disposed of every 90 days, whether the container is full or not.

    • Other states say all sharps waste must be disposed of once the container reaches the fill line.

  • It depends on your state, and PureWay has a resources page that can help guide you.

How can I remove myself from the free sharps program?

If you'd like to be removed from the Free Sharps Program, here's what you need to do:

    2. This step ensures you are removed from the brand’s enrollment system directly.

  3. If you're on auto-reorder (e.g., Consentyx Program):

    1. Our team will review the "With Customer" tab in the Manifest section of Connect Hub to locate any active manifests associated with you.
