Do PureWay amalgam separators work with both dry and wet vacuum systems?

Yes, PureWay amalgam separators are compatible with both dry and wet vacuum systems.

Note: Installation procedures may vary depending on the type of vacuum system, but detailed instructions are provided with the product.


What is the recommended replacement interval for the ECO II+ amalgam separator?

The ECO II+ amalgam separator should be replaced every 12 months or when the collection container reaches its maximum fill line, whichever comes first. This ensures optimal performance and compliance with EPA regulations.


How do I return a full amalgam separator for recycling?

Once the ECO II+ is full or ready for recycling, follow these steps:

  1. Secure the Canister

    Place the ECO II+ canister inside the provided plastic bag and secure it using the included zip tie.

  2. Prepare for Shipping

    Put the bagged canister into the original shipping box along with the styrofoam inserts.

  3. Seal and Label

    Close the box securely and attach the pre-paid return shipping label.

  4. Schedule Pickup

    Arrange a free UPS or FedEx pickup by calling PureWay at 877-765-3030 or emailing support@pureway.com.

What types of waste should be disposed of using a PureWay Amalgam Recycling System?

The following items containing amalgam should be disposed of using a PureWay Amalgam Recycling System:

  • Disposable amalgam capsules

  • Contact and non-contact/scrap amalgam

  • Chair-side traps

  • Extracted teeth containing amalgam fillings

Items that should NOT go into an Amalgam Bucket:

  • Blood-Soaked Materials

  • General Medical or Office Waste

  • Sharps

  • X-ray or Lead Foil

  • Disinfectants or Chemical Liquids

  • Extracted Teeth Without Amalgam

  • Pharmaceuticals

Note:

  • Only teeth with amalgam fillings should go into the amalgam recycling bucket.

  • Proper disposal ensures compliance with environmental regulations and prevents mercury contamination.


Are there any cleaning agents I should avoid when maintaining the amalgam separator system?

Yes, avoid using bleach or chlorine-containing cleaners for cleaning chair-side traps and vacuum lines. These substances can dissolve solid mercury, leading to environmental contamination.

Note: Use only non-bleach, non-chlorine cleaners with a pH between 6 and 8.


Do I receive documentation for compliance purposes after recycling the amalgam waste?

Yes, after recycling your amalgam waste, PureWay provides a certificate of recycling. This certificate is sent to your email and is also available online through the PureWay portal, ensuring you have the necessary documentation for regulatory compliance.


Can the ECOII be returned without a sanitary pouch?

Yes, the ECOII can be returned without a sanitary pouch as long as all other instructions have been followed, including draining the unit of all water, using the PureWay ECOII return box, and labeling it with the ECOII being placed into the poly bag, etc.
