Triggers are the starting point for an automation Flow in Pyn. They tell the system when to send a message and to whom.
They connect your employee data (like job title, start date, or manager change) to your communication workflows, ensuring that the right message goes out at the right time automatically.
Think of them as “if this, then that” moments for your employee experience.
For example:
If someone’s start date is in 7 days → then send the “Welcome to the team” email.
If an employee’s manager changes → then send a “New manager transition guide.”
If it’s a work anniversary → then send a celebratory message and nudge their manager to do the same.
Triggers keep your communications timely, consistent, and personalized without requiring manual follow-up.
How Triggers Work
Pyn connects directly to your HRIS.
When employee data changes (ex: a new hire is added or a title is updated) Pyn detects that change and activates the associated flow.
Each flow includes:
A trigger event (the data change)
A message or series of messages
The audience (employee, manager, or both)
Optional timing (e.g., send on event, 7 days before, 30 days after)
How to Set Up a Trigger
Go to Flows
Navigate to the Flows tab in your Pyn account.
Choose an existing flow or click Create Flow to start a new one.
Select a Trigger Type
Click on the Flow name, select the "..." and click on "Change trigger"
Choose what will start the automation. Common triggers include:
Start of Onboarding
Change of Location
Work anniversary or birthday
Promotion or role change
Custom date field (e.g., certification renewal, return from leave)
Don't forget to Publish!
