When building a Slack message step in a Flow, you now have the option to deactivate link unfurling and media unfurling under the Advanced settings.

What Is Unfurling?

In Slack, unfurling automatically expands links or media previews inside a message. For example:

  • A URL may expand into a preview with a title, image, and description

  • A video or image link may automatically display inline

While helpful in some cases, unfurling can also change how your message looks.

Why Turn It Off?

You may want to deactivate unfurling when:

  • You want a cleaner message layout
Prevent large previews from interrupting formatting.

  • You’re using a custom banner or structured design
Avoid visual clutter that competes with your content.

  • You’re sharing internal or gated links
Some links don’t preview correctly and may create awkward placeholders.

  • You want tighter control over branding and tone
Especially in executive communications or formal updates.

How to Turn It Off

  1. Open your Slack message step inside a Flow

  2. Click Advanced

  3. Toggle:

    • Deactivate link unfurling

    • Deactivate media unfurling

Your message will now send without automatic Slack previews.
