Creating a banner image that works for mobile and desktop

Written by Dame Dingding

When creating a message within Pyn, selecting the “Read More” add-on, will give you the opportunity to add your own banner image. When selecting or creating an image you'll want to think about what will looks great on a desktop and mobile view.

Though close in size, the mobile image has a different aspect ratio—it’s not as narrow. Since you can only upload a single image, below we have tips and suggested canvas dimensions to use in order to create a successful image.

Desktop Vs. Mobile

We recommend creating a design on a 1920px x 576px canvas. Content should sit within a frame that is 1536px x 576px. This will account for a 192px margin on each side. When your image is uploaded depending on how your message is viewed Pyn will crop your image on the left and right sides. For designs with branding or special content the best practice would be center those elements.

Desktop Specifications

The image for the desktop banner is 10:3. To ensure your image will look good on large monitors, we recommend you design your asset on a canvas that is 1920px x 576px (this maintains the 10:3 aspect ratio).

Mobile Specifications

Mobile screens vary in size, but they usually range in width from about 320px to 480px. The mobile banner is not quite as narrow as the desktop version and has an aspect ratio of 8:3.

Pyn will resize the image, but if you are interested in seeing how your image will look on a phone, you can scale your 1536px x 576px asset down to 320px x 120px.
