🟦 Blue USB Port?

🟦 If PyramidSetup shows in WiFi Settings that suggests that the Pyramid Pi WiFi adapter is not detected/plugged in properly.

If you see this, try plugging it into the top Blue USB port (needs to be a blue USB port) on the Pi and wait about 60 seconds and Pyramid Pi should show β€” and you should be all set!

If you can see Pyramid Pi - tap on it to connect (the default password is OnlineFreedom1) and return to the app

πŸͺ« Low Power Mode (Insufficient Power)

Please note: the blue LED on the USB adapter only flashes when connected to your phone/device(s) so does not indicate a problem on its own if it's off.

However, if you have the Pyramid USB adapter in the blue USB port and still can't see Pyramid Pi in WiFi Settings, that suggests a potential issue so please read below πŸ‘‡

πŸ”Œ The official recommendation for the minimum rating of the USB adapter/charger plug you should use with Pyramid Pi is 5v3a (details here).

Many lower-rated plugs (such as 5v2a) work just fine but lower-rated plugs could present issues if they don't supply enough power for both the Pi and WiFi adapter. If...

  • You're seeing network drops when on VPN

  • Or, Pyramid Pi is not showing at all in WiFi Settings

and you are also using a power adapter rated lower than 5v3a - then insufficient power is by far the most likely cause. To fix, follow the steps below:

How to fix:

  1. Unplug the USB WiFi Adapter (the USB stick) and wait for PyramidSetup to show in WiFi Settings

  2. Unplug the Pi device (remove power cable)

  3. Plug the USB WiFi Adapter back in (that’s the USB stick - in top blue USB port), not power cable yet.

  4. Make sure you power it with at least 5v3a power adapter/charger (the rating will be printed on the plug) and power on

  5. After booting, around 60 seconds, Pyramid Pi should now show and perform without issues

🚨 The order of these steps is important to fix it so please follow them exactly. Step 1 - 3 are what make the device exit lower power mode and fix the issue.

Simply plugging it into a 5v3a adapter without following steps 1 - 3 may keep it in low power mode β€” so please try steps above.

πŸ›œ Refresh Networks

If you've just booted it up - or just plugged it in to the correct USB, give it a few moments to show up in WiFi Settings on your device.

If you still can't see it, it's worth toggling WiFi on/off in WiFi Settings on your phone/device to force it to refresh. This is because some devices may take their time when rescanning / refreshing available WiFi networks.

If you still can't see it - it may be worth checking it's not showing on other devices too and if it's not and the other tips on this page don't help β€” please feel free to reach out to us at one of the methods listed below and we'll be happy to help find a fix.

πŸ“Ί Only doesn't show on older devices?

If you're running an older device with 2.4Ghz WiFi (something like a set-top box) that lacks support for 5Ghz WiFi - you can enable 2.4G mode by going to Settings > WiFi Settings and enabling 2.4G mode. Then connect to Pyramid Pi 2G on those devices. We recommend Pyramid Pi for any devices that do support 5Ghz networks as it's much faster.
