Transferring files between your local computer and your VPS using Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) is straightforward and eliminates the need for additional software. Here’s how to set it up:

1. Launch Remote Desktop Connection: On your local Windows machine, open the Remote Desktop Connection application. You can find it by searching for “Remote Desktop Connection” in the Start menu.

2. Show Options: In the Remote Desktop Connection window, click on “Show Options” to expand the available settings.

3. Access Local Resources: Navigate to the “Local Resources” tab.

4. Configure Local Devices and Resources: In the “Local devices and resources” section, click on the “More…” button.

5. Select Drives for Redirection: In the list that appears, check the boxes next to the drives you wish to access during your remote session. This action allows your VPS to recognize and interact with these local drives.

6. Establish the Connection: Return to the “General” tab, enter the IP address of your VPS in the “Computer” field, and your username in the “User name” field. Click “Connect” to initiate the remote session.

7. Transfer Files: Once connected, open “File Explorer” on your VPS. Your local drives will appear under “This PC” or “Computer,” labeled as “Drive Letter on [Your Computer Name].” You can now copy and paste files between your local machine and the VPS as needed.

This method streamlines file transfers without requiring third-party applications, enhancing efficiency in managing your VPS.
