Managing Windows Updates on your server is crucial for maintaining security and performance. While it’s possible to disable automatic updates using the Local Group Policy Editor, we strongly recommend configuring updates to occur automatically during non-trading hours to prevent disruptions.

Configuring Automatic Updates via Group Policy:

1. Open the Local Group Policy Editor:

• Press Win + R to open the Run dialog box.

• Type gpedit.msc and press Enter.

2. Navigate to Windows Update Settings:

• In the Local Group Policy Editor, go to:

Computer Configuration

└── Administrative Templates

└── Windows Components

└── Windows Update

3. Configure Automatic Updates:

• Double-click on Configure Automatic Updates.

• Select Enabled.

• In the Options section, choose the desired configuration:

Auto download and schedule the install:

• Set the schedule to install updates during weekends or specific times that won’t interfere with your trading activities.

• Click Apply, then OK.

Recommendations:

Schedule Updates During Non-Trading Hours:

• To avoid interruptions, schedule updates during weekends or periods when trading activities are minimal.

Regularly Check for Updates:

• Ensure your server remains secure by allowing it to check for and install updates at least every two weeks.

Monitor Update Installations:

• After updates are installed, verify that your trading applications function as expected.

By configuring automatic updates to occur during non-trading hours, you can maintain the security and performance of your server without disrupting your trading activities.
