How to Reinstall Your QuantVPS

Reinstall your QuantVPS from the dashboard — OS options, what gets erased, and how to start fresh safely.

You can reinstall your QuantVPS directly from your dashboard to start fresh with a new operating system. This guide covers the available OS options, the step-by-step reinstall process, and what to do afterwards.

Warning: Reinstalling your VPS will erase everything on it, including all files, programs, and settings. After the reinstall, you'll receive a new administrator (Windows) or root (Linux) password in your QuantVPS dashboard. This action is permanent and cannot be undone. Your VPS's IP address is typically retained after a reinstall, but always confirm the current IP in your dashboard before relying on it.

Available Operating Systems

When reinstalling your VPS, you can choose from:

  • Windows Server 2019

  • Windows Server 2022

  • Windows Server 2025

  • Ubuntu 22.04 LTS

  • Ubuntu 24.04 LTS

Step-by-Step Reinstall Guide

  1. Log in to the VPS Dashboard. Go to https://www.quantvps.com/login and sign in with your account credentials.

  2. Navigate to Your VPS. From the dashboard, click on the VPS/server you want to reinstall.

  3. Open the Control Panel. Once inside your server's page, select the Control Panel option.

  4. Scroll to the Reinstall Section. Scroll below the Credentials section under Server Manager to locate the Reinstall Operating System Wizard (as shown in the screenshot).

  5. Select a New Operating System. Use the dropdown menu to choose your preferred OS: Windows Server (2019, 2022, or 2025) or Ubuntu (22.04 LTS or 24.04 LTS).

  6. Confirm the Reinstall. Click Reinstall. A warning will remind you this action is not reversible — confirm to proceed.

  7. Wait for the Reinstall Process to Complete. The reinstall process usually takes 5–15 minutes — allow sufficient time for it to complete entirely, and avoid interrupting or trying to access the VPS during this period. Once finished, your VPS will be reset to the selected OS.

  8. Retrieve Your New Credentials. After the reinstall, your new login credentials can be found directly in your QuantVPS dashboard under the Credentials section. Disregard any previously saved credentials as they will no longer be valid. Use the new password to log in to your freshly reinstalled VPS.

After the Reinstall

Once your VPS is back online with the new operating system, you may want to:

  • Update the OS to the latest patches and security updates

  • Reinstall any applications or trading platforms you use

  • Restore your backed-up files and configurations

  • Re-enable any firewall or remote access settings you previously had configured

  • Note: your VPS's IP address is typically retained after a reinstall, so most external whitelisting (broker/data-feed IP allowlists, firewall rules) should keep working — but confirm the IP in your dashboard to be sure nothing changed
