Overview

While the default connection method for your QuantVPS is Microsoft Remote Desktop (RDP), some traders prefer to use Parsec for a smoother experience — especially in regions where RDP can feel laggy or delayed due to limited upload bandwidth or longer distances from our data centers.Parsec uses adaptive compression and a low-latency video protocol to deliver faster input response times, making it ideal for charting and trade execution platforms.

Step 1 — Connect via RDP First

To install Parsec on your VPS, you’ll first need to log in once using your standard RDP connection:

  1. Open the Remote Desktop Connection app on your computer.

  2. Enter your VPS IP address, username, and password (found in your QuantVPS dashboard).

  3. Click Connect to access your VPS desktop.

Step 2 — Install Parsec on the VPS

  1. Open your web browser and go to https://parsec.app/downloads.

  2. Download the Windows version of Parsec and run the installer.

  3. When prompted, check the box to install the Virtual Display Driver.

  4. Choose “Per User” during setup.

  5. Launch Parsec and sign in or create a free Parsec account.

  6. After signing in, Parsec will automatically register your VPS as a connected computer.

    • If you don’t see it, click Reload in the upper-right corner.

  7. Once your VPS appears in the list, disconnect your RDP session — Parsec will now handle future connections.

Step 3 — Install Parsec on Your Local Device

  1. Visit https://parsec.app/downloads and install Parsec for your OS (Windows or macOS).

  2. Log in using the same Parsec account you used inside your VPS.

  3. You should now see your VPS listed under “Computers.”

Step 4 — Connect to Your VPS via Parsec

  1. From your local Parsec app, click on your VPS name under “Computers.”

  2. Click Connect — Parsec will open a low-latency session to your VPS.

  3. You can now use Parsec exclusively moving forward.

Tip: Parsec automatically adjusts visual quality to maintain smooth performance even on slower connections.

Step 5 — Launch Parsec automatically at Startup

Option 1: Add to Startup Folder (Simplest)

1. Press Win + R to open Run.

2. Type:

shell:startup

3. and hit Enter — this opens your user’s Startup folder.

4. Right-click inside → New → Shortcut.

5. Browse to:

C:\Program Files\Parsec\parsecd.exe

6. Click Next, name it “Parsec,” and hit Finish.

7. Done — Parsec will now auto-launch when the user logs in.

Option 2: Use Task Scheduler (Better for servers / headless login)

If you want Parsec to run before you manually log in (e.g., right after boot):

  1. Open Task Scheduler.

  2. Click Create Task (not Basic Task).

  3. Under General:

    • Name it: Parsec AutoStart

    • Select: “Run whether user is logged on or not”

    • Check “Run with highest privileges”

  4. Go to Triggers → New…

    • Begin the task: “At startup”

  5. Go to Actions → New…

    • Action: “Start a program”

    • Program/script:

C:\Program Files\Parsec\parsecd.exe

Click OK, enter your password when prompted.

✅ Parsec will now start automatically whenever the system boots, even before a user logs in.
