Importing Assignments into MDT can be done using the following process similar to contractor import:

1) Create Import Settings.
2) Upload assignments using the settings created.

For importing the assignments, you would need to go to Import menu -> Assignment Import screen.

You can also go to the import screen by going into the assignments screen.

Then you have to click "Import Settings" to set the definition for mapping the fields as per your sheet.

In the import settings screen, you have to click Create and click "Assignment Mapping".

While creating the new assignment mapping, you have to enter the field names as per your upload sheet (based on how each field in MDT can map to your upload sheet) in all the mandatory fields and save it.

There are additional fields as well, if they are available in your upload file and you want to create a record with that value as well, you can define them and then click "Save.".

After setting the configuration successfully, you can then upload file using the definition you have created now.

The first step is to select the definition name that you've created in import settings, select the client, upload the file, and submit the upload.

After submitting the file, the import status will become "Pending" and the background task will be added for processing the upload.

Once it is completed and if the file is valid, the status will be changed to "Import completed". You can then click the Import ID (or) the edit icon to see the "Ready to Create" (Matched) and Exception (unmatched) data. The user can see the uploaded details in the top section (Uploaded Date, File Name, Definition Name, Total Count of Records Uploaded, Ready to Create Count, and Exception Count).

The user can see the exception data by navigating to that tab, see the failed reason and then have the option to delete it.

Here, you have the option to map the client and contractor for the exception list. If you want, you can map this exception record to correct contractor/client. Once you have mapped it, it will move to "Ready to Create" tab.

You can see the different options, like update client, view all fields, unmap contractor and delete. Once you confirm all mapped fields, if you click "Generate Assignment(s)" in the top, it will then create the assignments for the ones that are in the Ready to Create tab.

Background task will get added for the creation of assignments. Once it is completed, you can see the import as "completed", means assignments has been successfully created.

You can see the total number of records created under the column "Submitted (Created/Failed)".

Next Steps…

Once the Assignment records have been created, the Assignment record may require multiple rates to be assigned or to have a timesheet authoriser assigned.

Follow this process to finalise completing the Assignment
