Handling your finances is simple with Quicken. Download quicken for Mac. Whether you're keeping an eye on your budget, investments, or rental properties, getting Quicken set up on your Mac is straightforward. In this easy guide, we’ll show you how to download and install Quicken step-by-step no tech skills needed! Let’s get started and get your financial tools ready.

Download & Install Quicken on Mac in minutes

1. Download Quicken from the Official Site

  • Go to quicken.com/download with your favorite browser like Safari or Chrome.

  • This is the real deal for the Mac version, so you can trust it.

  • Make sure your Mac is running a recent version of macOS, including those with Apple M1 chips.

  • Click the download link to save it to your Downloads folder.

2. Install Quicken on Your Mac

  • Find the downloaded file (usually a .dmg) in your Downloads folder and double-click it to kick off the installation.

  • If asked, enter your Mac admin username and password to allow the installation.

  • Click “OK” and hang tight for a minute or two—grab a coffee if you want! After it's done, you’ll find Quicken in your Applications folder, ready to go.

3. Launch Quicken for the First Time

  • Open your Applications folder (you can use Finder or search with Spotlight) and double-click the Quicken icon to start it up.

  • To make it easier to get to later, drag the icon to your dock. The first time you open it, you might see a sign-in or activation screen, based on how you purchased it.

4. Sign In or Activate Your Copy

For Purchases on Quicken.com:

  • Just use your Quicken ID, which is the email and password you set up when you bought it.

  • Enter them, click “Sign In” and you're all set.

  • If you forgot your password, you can easily reset it on the Quicken website.

For Retail Purchases (like boxed versions):

  • Look for your activation code either in the box or in your purchase confirmation email (it’ll be a mix of letters and numbers).

  • Enter that code when asked to activate.

Troubleshoot Download & Install Quicken on Mac

If you're having trouble, like if the install fails or the app won't open, try these tips:

  • For an installation failure, restart your Mac and try the installer again. Make sure you have enough free space (a couple of gigabytes) and that no other apps are getting in the way.

  • If you can’t see the window, hold “Control” and click the Launchpad icon in your dock to bring it up.

  • If you’re upgrading or switching from Windows, make sure to uninstall any older versions first (you can find instructions here). You can also check out this guide to convert your Windows data.
