Step 1: Creating a New Invoice

  1. Log in to your Odoo system and navigate to the Accounting application.

  2. Select Customer Invoices from the menu.

  3. Click the Create button to generate a new invoice.

  4. Enter the customer information and select the necessary products or services for the invoice.

  5. Organize your invoice using sections (for example, to separate different product categories).

Step 2: Account Configuration

  • Account Setup: In Odoo, accounts can be configured at different levels β€” in the sales journal, at the product level, or at the product category level.

  • Account Priority: If an account is specified at multiple levels, Odoo will use the most specific one (for example, an account at the product level takes precedence over an account in the sales journal).

Step 3: Confirming and Sending the Invoice

  • Confirm the Invoice: After completing all required fields, confirm the invoice. If no invoice date is specified, Odoo will automatically set the current date.

  • Sending the Invoice: Once confirmed, the invoice can be sent to the customer or printed for further use. Use the Send & Print buttons for this purpose.

Step 4: Tracking Invoice Status

  • Payment Status Tracking: In Odoo, you can monitor the payment status of invoices β€” fully paid, partially paid, or unpaid.

  • Invoice List View: The invoice list provides information about the invoice number, issue date, payment date, amount with and without tax, and payment status.

Conclusion

Creating invoices in Odoo is a simple and efficient process that helps automate accounting and sales management. Using Odoo's features, you can easily create, send, and track invoices, which simplifies customer interactions and optimizes your company's financial operations.
