The Roll-up Component feature in QuotaPath allow deals to be credited to multiple users or plans, such as when a manager receives credit for their team’s sales, or Exec level compensation based on multiple teams. Roll-ups allow you to tie the attainment for one user directly to the set of deals another team is already earning on. They are particularly useful for aggregating team performance under a single plan for payout calculations.
To automatically roll-up deal credit from members for manager plans, team quotas, or company goals, you can create components with roll-up attainment credit.
Roles and Teams
The first step, before beginning roll-up creation, is completing the following steps:
1) Assign workspace roles - Team managers must be assigned the Manager Workspace role on the Members page to be available to choose as a manager on the Teams page. Without being assigned as a Manager to a team, the roll-up configuration will not be available on their playing components.
2) Create Teams - someone receiving roll-up credit (i.e., a manager) must have a team on the teams page with them listed as the manager. On the team's page, create a team and add all members that will need to be rolled up. If the members being rolled up are spread across multiple plans, you will need to create a team for each plan. When creating your roll-ups for the manager, you will not be able to select a the same team more than once on the same roll-up component.
3) Assign team managers - the manager receiving roll-up credit must be added as the manager of their team on the Teams page. Without a team assigned to them, you will not be able to create roll-up components for them.
Create Roll-Up Component
Roll-ups are particularly useful when contributors are indirectly associated with a sale or when aggregating team performance is necessary for payout calculations. Always review your plan structure to determine if roll-ups are the best approach.
Go to the Plans page and click ‘+Add Plan’ in the top right-hand corner. After entering the plan information, add a quota component first.
Once the quota component is set up, you will add an earnings component and click ‘Edit’.
Next, scroll down to the bottom of the component editor and click ‘Component Modifiers’. Then, use the dropdown to select a team that will roll-up to the plan assignee:
Last, choose the plan and component that contains the data to roll-up attainment credit:
To add more teams, click '+ Add another'. If plan assignees manage different teams, or if a plan assignee manages multiple teams (or should receive credit for multiple teams), you'll need to add every team to the roll-up.
At a later step, you'll be able to specify the team members for whom each plan assignee should receive attainment credit.
When complete, click 'Save' to finish setting up the earnings component.
Tip: If there are multiple components from team members that will need to be rolled up, you'll need to create additional components and repeat the above steps.
Map Assignees to Roll-Ups
After creating all the components in the plan, click 'Manage Assignees' from the Plan Basics section to assign members to this plan. In the pop-up modal, select the members to assign to the plan:
Next, you'll map the plan assignees to the roll-up team members. You'll see every roll-up component displayed. Click '+ Add Assignee' to select a plan assignee:
From there, use the dropdown on the right side to select the team members that should roll-up to the plan assignee to provide accurate attainment credit:
Complete the above steps for each plan assignee and roll-up component. Last, enter the plan assignment dates for the plan assignees. Please note that these dates control the effective dates on the compensation plan and not the team assignment dates. Visit this article to learn how to assign team dates.
Maintenance of Roll-Up Components - What If Scenarios
If roll-ups are not functioning as expected, review the roll-up plan configuration and related settings to identify potential issues. Ensure Teams, Team and Manager Assignment dates, relevant plan details, Roll-up Contributor selections and settings are properly configured. Refer to our full Roll-up Troubleshooting Guide HERE.
