A Team-based Commission plan is commonly used by Sales Managers, VP of Sales, Director of Sales, Head of Sales, and CROs.

Plan insights

This is a simple comp plan that offers a flat percentage on direct reports’ deals closed. Quotas for sales leaders are typically the sum of the quotas of people who report to them.

A few examples

Below are a few examples of how this plan could be applied in a variety of industries and goods sold.

A Sales Manager has a 6 person team with a monthly team quota of $198,000 ARR and earns a 2.5% commission of every deal their team closes.

An IT Sales Director has a 20 person team with a hardware quota of $2,000,000 of revenue a quarter and earns 1.5% of every deal their team closes.

An Insurance VP of Sales has a 100 person team with a resale quota of $20,000 of health plans per month each (total quota of $2,000,000 per month) and earns .75% of the premium of every plan their team sells.
