A Team-based Commission with Bonuses plan is commonly used by Sales Managers, VP of Sales, Director of Sales, Head of Sales, and CROs.

Plan insights

This comp plan offers a percentage on direct reports’ deals closed as well as bonuses for hitting certain targets, like exceeding quotas or for closing deals of a certain size.

A few examples

Below are a few examples of how this plan could be applied in a variety of industries and goods sold.

A Sales Manager has a 6 person team with a monthly quota of $198,000 ARR and earns a 2.5% commission of deals they close until they hit quota and 5% commission thereafter. They also earn a $2,500 bonus if they hit their monthly quota.

An IT Sales Director has a 10 person team with a hardware quota of $1,000,000 of revenue a quarter and earns .6% of deals their team closes. Once quota is hit, they earn .8% commission of everything their team sold. They also earn a $200 bonus for every $100,000 of revenue their team sells.

50-100% quota attainment: 2.5% on all deals closed by direct reports

150-200% quota attainment: 4.25% on all deals closed by direct reports

200%+ quota attainment: 4.75% on all deals closed by direct reports
