Learn how to connect a Microsoft Excel file to QuotaPath

Updated over 6 months ago

QuotaPath's integration with Microsoft Excel allows you to easily import data from an Excel file to use in QuotaPath to calculate commissions or inform payouts eligibility. In this article, we'll cover the requirements to set up this integration and provide step-by-step instructions.

Integration Requirements

Before connecting your Microsoft Excel file to your QuotaPath workspace, you'll need to obtain the below information.

  1. File Name: The name of the Excel file that you'll be importing into QuotaPath

Once you have the above information, you're ready to connect Microsoft to your QuotaPath workspace!

Supported Objects

QuotaPath supports the ability to import any Microsoft Excel file in your Microsoft 365 or Microsoft OneDrive account. Use this template as a guide to the information required on your Excel sheet for the integration to be successful.

If you have an existing worksheet you’ll be using, in order to sync your Excel sheet, the following fields/columns will be required:

  • An “id” column: This should be a column with the name “id” (lowercase) as the column header (located somewhere in row 1) and should include a unique identification data.

  • An ownership column with emails: Ownership in QuotaPath is dictated by the email addresses of your reps. The column that will dictate ownership between the sheet and QuotaPath need to be the email addresses of the owners. This column can be called anything that makes sense in your set up.

  • Deal date: Each deal that comes through QuotaPath will need a deal date associated with it (ie: a close date or a meeting booked date). This date format must be YYYY-MM-DD.

  • Deal amount: This column will be the value we’re pulling in to calculate commissions and must be a number format (0000.00)

Once your sheet is structured appropriately, make sure the file is placed on your internal Sharepoint and capture the file name of the Excel file that you’ll be importing into QuotaPath.

After you have the above information, you're ready to connect Microsoft to your QuotaPath workspace!

How to connect Microsoft Excel

To connect a Microsoft Excel file to your QuotaPath workspace, you first must confirm that you are an admin in the QuotaPath workspace and you have ownership/editor capabilities of the shared file that is in Sharepoint.

Once confirmed, in QuotaPath, click Settings in the main app navigation, and then Integrations. Find the Excel integration card and click ‘Connect’.

Authenticate

Upon clicking 'Connect', you'll be automatically redirected to Microsoft 365 where you'll need to login and authenticate to your Microsoft account. After logging in, you'll need to grant QuotaPath access to your Microsoft account:

After logging in, you'll be automatically redirected back to QuotaPath.

Integration Source Form

Upon returning to QuotaPath and receiving the confirmation that the integration has been successfully connected, click 'Next' to proceed.

Sync Schedule

At the top of the following screen, use the dropdown selector to set the sync frequency. In addition to these scheduled syncs, you'll always have the option to click 'Sync Now' on the Excel integration card on the 'Integrations' page to trigger a manual sync.

Objects

Next, select the objects, or Microsoft Excel files, that you'd like to import into your QuotaPath workspace.

Note: if you’re not seeing the object you need or any object at all to select from, please verify that you have the required columns and formatting listed above. If you’re still not able to connect, please reach out to your support team for further assistance.

When complete, click ‘Sync now’ to begin importing data into your QuotaPath workspace. This could take a few minutes so feel free to close the modal and navigate back to Home to complete any outstanding onboarding tasks. We will send you an email once your integration is ready to use.

Once your integration is setup, you can start syncing your plan to your integration data. Visit this article for more detailed instructions!
