What is Qwoted? An Intro for PRs and Experts

Not sure what Qwoted does? Start here!

Written by Marley Brooks

Qwoted democratizes access to the earned media by leveling the playing field. Traditionally, getting in front of journalists meant having the right connections or the budget to hire a big PR firm. Qwoted opens that door for everyone, from solo experts to small businesses to seasoned PR professionals, by giving all sources direct access to journalists who are actively looking for them.

It does that by connecting sources with journalists, editors, podcasters, and other media creators who are actively seeking expertise for their stories. When a reporter needs a source, they post a Source Request on Qwoted describing what they're looking for. You can browse those requests and pitch yourself or your clients directly to the journalists behind them. No cold outreach, no guessing who covers what. Just real opportunities from real media professionals who want to hear from you.

Whether you're a PR professional managing a roster of clients or an expert representing yourself, Qwoted gives you a direct line to the media moments that matter.

How to Get Started

1. Build your profile Source profiles are how journalists get to know you or your client before they ever read your pitch. It should reflect your expertise clearly and specifically. The more complete and focused your profile is, the better Qwoted can match you to relevant opportunities.

2. Browse your feed Your homepage feed surfaces Source Requests that are matched to your expertise. These are active requests from journalists and media creators looking for sources right now. You can also search and filter to find requests via the Opportunities Page. Once your profiles are set up, our system will also send you relevant alerts to your email.

3. Send a pitch When you find a request that's a good fit, you respond with a pitch. Your pitch goes directly to the journalist or producer who posted the request. Pitches are sent using pitch credits, which are included with your Qwoted plan.

4. Earn media coverage If a journalist likes your pitch, they'll reach out to move the conversation forward. From there, it's up to you to make the most of it.

Why It Works

Journalists come to Qwoted because they need sources. That means every request in your feed is a genuine opportunity from someone who is actively working on a story. You're not interrupting anyone's inbox. You're showing up exactly when you're needed.

What Is Earned Media?

Earned media is coverage you get because a journalist or media creator chose to feature you, not because you paid for placement. It's also called organic media, and it can take a lot of forms:

  • A quote in an industry publication

  • A feature article about you or your business

  • A social media mention from a media outlet or journalist

This kind of coverage tends to carry more weight than paid advertising because it implies a genuine connection between you and the media. It builds credibility, grows brand awareness, and signals authority in your field. Qwoted is built to help you earn exactly this kind of coverage.

Qwoted is built specifically for earning this type of coverage. By responding to Source Requests with relevant expertise, you're not just chasing a single placement. You're building real relationships with journalists and content creators who will remember you when the next story comes around.
