On this page, please note the following:

  1. Do not apply the transponder anywhere else on your helmet, except on the visor, unless your visor cannot accommodate it. In such cases, place the transponder behind your front number plate. Avoid placing the transponders on your vehicle, your person, your clothing, or any other location on your helmet besides the visor.

  2. Here's how to render your RFID tag ineffective (which is not desirable).

The RFID Transponder Tag is an adhesive strip containing an electronic circuit. It is crucial to mount it correctly to ensure its detection when crossing the finish line, as there are various ways to improperly handle it. For instance, if the tag is positioned too close to conductive metal, commonly found inside helmets, it can disrupt the tag's frequency and render it unreliable. Simply follow the steps provided, and you'll be in good shape.

Firstly, DO NOT PLACE AN RFID TAG OVER ANOTHER RFID TAG. This practice, known as "stacking tags," will render both tags ineffective. If you have multiple tags on your visor, ensure that there is at least 1/2" of space between them.

As long as there is no metal or carbon fiber within one inch of the tag on your visor, apply the RFID tag on the underside of the visor, lengthwise from side to side. Ensure it is placed as close as possible to the front edge of the visor, avoiding positioning it from front to back or diagonally.

Please do not apply the RFID tag anywhere else on your helmet, unless your visor cannot accommodate it. In such cases, place the tag behind your front number plate. Avoid placing the transponders on your vehicle, your person, your clothing, or any other location on your helmet besides the visor.

Here are some incorrect practices that render your RFID tag ineffective (which is undesirable):

1. Applying the RFID tag in the wrong place or orientation is incorrect and will cause issues.

2. Stacking multiple RFID tags on top of each other is incorrect.

3. Applying and then peeling off the RFID tag before reapplying it is incorrect and can damage the circuitry. If you need to remove the RFID tag, you must purchase a replacement.

4. Folding the tag prior to applying it is incorrect and can damage the circuitry.

5. Applying the tag to a surface containing metal or carbon fiber is incorrect. If your visor contains either of these materials, use the alternative mounting location behind the front number plate.

6. Exposing the RFID tag to photocopying, scanning, or lasers is incorrect as it causes electromagnetic effects that can ruin the tag.

Note: Powerwashing can potentially damage your tag, so avoid exposing it to such conditions.
