If you haven't already installed WooCommerce, you'll want to head into your WordPress Dashboard and choose 'Add New' from the Plugins area.

Type in WooCommerce and then click on Install Now.  Make sure you choose the right plugin.

After you click on Install Now, you'll see the button change to "Installing"....

... and then eventually to "Activate":

Click on "Activate" to turn on WooCommerce.  You'll need to setup WooCommerce as well:

Click through the Page Setup with the default options in most cases.  If you don't want yoursite.com/shop/ and instead wish for something like yoursite.com/catalog/ or yoursite.com/menu/ you can change that on the Page Setup page.

Continue through the Localization page and adjust the Shipping & Tax page to meet your store requirements. You may need to check with an accountant or an attorney to confirm how and when to charge tax on your site.

On the Payments page, you can skip all of the options on the page and click through on Continue as you'll be installing our software in the next step.

On the final page, you're given an opportunity to create your 'first product' as seen in the screenshot below:

We suggest that you make a Penny Test Product, and will show you how on the screens below.  The first time you visit the New Products area, you can hop through several tooltips that provide you with additional details about each area of the product administration:

We recommend viewing them all if you are unfamiliar with how WooCommerce works or haven't used it in some time.

To configure your test product, please check out our next article on Configuring a Test Product.
