Private markets

Learn how private markets work on Rain Trade, including how to join one, who resolves them, and how disputes work.

Private markets are designed for specific or community-based events. They're not listed on the public feed — to participate, you need a secret access code from the market creator.

Who can create a private market?

Any Rain Trade user can create a private market. Private markets are well-suited for events specific to a particular group or community.

How are private markets resolved?

The market creator is the resolver for private markets. They report the final outcome when the event concludes.

It's important to trust the creator of a private market. The creator has sole authority to resolve the outcome, so only participate in private markets run by someone you trust.

What if there's a dispute?

If you disagree with the creator's resolution, you can file a dispute to escalate it to human oracles for a final review.

  • If the human oracles find in your favor: you get your collateral back.

  • If the human oracles uphold the original resolution: your collateral goes to the market creator.

See Filing a dispute for more details.
